I've tried to figure this out on my own but no luck. Can anyone tell me WHO this early Red Sox player is??? The photo looks to be from the 1920's-1930's. Hoping someone can help! Thanks!!! (( I'm new here so I can't post a photo... here is the URL address... just add an H to the beginning ....

EDIT (by schillingouttheks): I'll fix it for ya. I just made it so that you can see the pic.

Julio Franco's rookie card?

Could have sworn it was Roger Clemens.

I have a bunch of Red Sox "Turn Back the Clock" cards that have players from that era. I'll go through them and see if I can match a picture.

Are you blind? That could be Tris Speaker.

Blind in reference to Roger Clemens? Just goofing on his age...

It could be Speaker but I'm not too sure. Does this picture look like the guy up top?

Sure as hell does look like Cronin. I'd say it is.

THANK YOU all for your responses. The consensus seems to be that it's JOE CRONIN. I have found that he played with the Red Sox from 1935 to 1945. Can anyone narrow down the year for me based on uniform, socks, shoes, etc??

Over the years I've seen thousands of old portraits in these types of frames and was very surprised when I opened this one up! I believe it to be original... it's fresh out of a local estate... the (deceased) owners once lived in Taunton way back when and moved to my area in the 50's. The paper seems to be like any other portrait I've seen in these frames but I am left wondering how this photo came to be. I'm not finding anything else like this. Is this photo a handout..... something the photographer (from Taunton) took and sold..... maybe Cronin was a friend of the family???

Thanks!!!!!

After looking at it again, I would say it is not Joe Cronin after doing a little research on the uniform.

Notice the RedSox patch on the sleeve in the picture provided and the uniform sketches. 1931 and 1932 were the only years that those patches were there along with the solid socks. My belief is that the uniform sketches are accurate as well since it came from the baseball HOF website. I think we are looking for someone who was on the 1931 or 1932 RedSox.

EDIT: After looking at those teams, who freakin knows, those were some pretty bad RedSox teams. Yuck. 43-111 in 1932.
