Can we just stick with one SS for more than one year? For chrissakes' date=' OCab and Rent were let go and shipped off because they weren't performing, but now they are. The point being, if a player has demonstrated an ability to play, like Lugo has, they don't just lose it overnight for good. One, they can't cut him because they have to pay him anyway, and no team will pick up that salary right now. Two, they won't get s*** for him in trade, and if he starts playing well again, it will just be another link in the "We have no patience with our SS" chain. If he sucks for 2 full years, then yeah, cut bait. Moving sooner is asking for trouble.[/quote']

I disagree....ocab was shipped out (not re-signed) because they thought they could upgrade with rent. Ocab played great while he was here, especially in the playoffs..and i think the sox figured he couldn't keep that pace up because of his career numbers. However his career numbers were in Montreal; once he came to a big stage he played great. Rent wilted in a big environment whereas ocab excelled. I remember hearing an interview (on WEEI i think) with Theo after they traded rent where he was saying that not bringing ocab back was a big mistake and that he thought he could upgrade that position slightly, where he should have just left it alone. I personally was pissed that they didn't bring ocab back, and wouldn't mind them bringing him in now....although i think Lugo will turn it around soon.

Pena continuing to suck with sparadic playing time. Pena is not a 4th outfielder' date=' he needs playing time or he needs to go.[/quote']

I say go. There are too many deficiencies in his game for him to be a full-time OF for this team.

Dice is hitting 94 here in the 6th, 100+ pitches into the game.

Are they going to take him out because they want to avoid pitcher abuse? If he's still cruising (despite that single) I'd keep him in.

This guy is used to being a Carlos Zambrano type workhorse. I wonder if he actually IS that type of pitcher, or if he is just waiting to break down someday much too early.

I haven't seen Dice-K smile very often in his past few starts. In the past he was very animated, smiling and communicating non-verbally alot with his teammates. He seems much more serious, which is probably a good thing.

He seems to be hanging out with JT in between starts...you would think that would have him smiling:D
