The Red Sox fifth hitter has been an issue the last couple of years with Nixon, Varitek and Drew not doing the job. If the Youkilis move its a permanent one also won't work out, Youkilis its having a good season, but its a complimentory player and not a production player and with him as the 5th hitter Ramirez isn't going to get a pitch to hit, pitchers aren't afraid to pitch to Youkilis. The right move to make its having Lowell to hit fifth behind Manny.

SS, but Youkillis isnt nearly as valuable in the #5 hole. He'll get some hits but his skill set is much better for the #2 spot in front of Manny and Ortiz and hes been more effective in the #2 spot as compared to #5:

Batting #5: 42 AB, .286/.360/.381/.741 (they'll go down after tonight)

Batting #2: 161 AB, .354/.447/.553/1.000

that all depends. You do remember Lowell's history. If you bat him fifth come August' date=' he'll likely be a liability.[/quote']

Lets worry about June, because when August comes, they may have nothing to worry about if they keep scoring 1 or 2 runs a game like they have done for the last 10 games.

JD Drew is this teams 5 hitter.

Exactly. J.D. Drew's career OPS speaks for itself. At some point it might be fair to determine that he isn't fit to hit up in the lineup, but this is not the time.

J.D. Drew is fit to hit leadoff in Portland for the Sea-Dogs right about now. He is absolutely PATHETIC up there. As bad as he has been....his lack of production is surpassed in patheticness only by Lugo's .270 OBP and Crisp's lack of anything at the plate.

J.D. Drew/Lugo/and Crisp are terrible, terrible hitters. Drew is the ONLY one I give one iota of a chance of at least being respectable. What sucks about him is we just spent $15 mill a year on a guy who will finish this year(assuming the little queen doesn;t get hurt...again)...batting .270 with 15 Hr's and 70 RBI..damn..Youkilis must be ripped!

I cannot believe the SCRUBS Theo has brought in.. Honestly..he needs to fix this..or be shown the door. For every good move he has made..he has made two bad ones. Theo Epstein is SUPREMELY lucky to be able to f*** up on a regular basis and be bailed out by John Henry's DEEP pockets. He is the most overrated GM in sports today.
