The Orioles are the Orioles are the Orioles. Boog's is great, the crab cakes are delectable, the baseball is forgettable. Their pitching isnt enough to hold it down. Bedard needs to be complemented as he is more of a 2 or a 3 due to inconsistency and Cabrera doesnt complement anyone due to his serious inconsistency. Also, their offense is very hit or miss and lacks any sort of huge power threat on a nightly basis. Yeah, Tejada is a great hitter, but he doesnt put the fear of god in you like he did a few yrs back. But the future is bright. Markakis and Rowell could be a very solid 3/4 and the rotation with the addition of Erbe and the maturation of Loewen could be very good. I just think they lack the high end talent to compete this yr. And the manager, and especially the owner. Peter Angelos has f***ed the fans of Baltimore in the bum with no lube on a nightly basis. Once he goes, your team may actually have a long term prayer. Until then, you'll be battling with the DRays for the cellar come autumn.

I agree with you jacksonianmarch on everything especally Peter Angelos. I hate him almost as much as I hate Sam Perlazzo.

Too many black holes in that lineup. Huff, Patterson, and Gibbons are horrendously bad. I don't think you can win with that many sub .300 OBP guys.

 

VORP numbers

 

Huff - -2.6

Patterson - -5.7

Gibbons - -7.8

 

A Replacement Value player will average a VORP of zero. These guys are actually more detrimental to the team, then an AAA player.

 

Do you think they could find a pitcher who can throw strikes? If anyone is stupid enough to trade for Steve Trachsel, they need to move him. A .5 BB/K ratio? He's due to get rocked in a couple of starts.

 

A move the Orioles could consider:
