Man, do I miss this guy. I'm still unclear as to why his contract wasn't renewed. I came home from school and the games were on a new station (what the hell is this 680 crap) and Trup's voice was missing.

I'd come to associate Castiglione's and Trupiano's voices to the point where they were almost indistinguishable to me, and now hearing Castiglione's high pitched yet oh-so-entertaining wail sounds weird next to these new guys. I don't even know the new names.

Is it just me, or has Red Sox radio lost something?

I don't have NESN or MLB.TV, but i do have the Audio version, It's how i keep track of almost all the Sox games. While O'brein isn't that bad, I do miss getting my hopes everytime there was a fly ball.

He was a character. Red Sox radio has gone downhill this year. The new guy sounds like he has a gun to his head if he says somthing stupid.

I liked how Trupe and Joe got along on the radio, it seemed real as if they were friends. O'Brien is a pro in every way, but when this kid, Geffner, or whoever he is, is on the radio, it's awful. It's obvious he has little or no experience. That's ok in KC or Colorado, but the Sox fans deserve better.

Trupe had great personality in his voice, I can't stand Gefner. I used to shut the T.V. off and just listen to Joe and Jerry, but now I have to strickly watch Nesn because Gefner is has zero character in his voice. He is boring as s***. I do kind of like O'Brien however, I listen to Trupe for some of the most memorable moments in Red Sox history and it is kind of hard to adjust to a new voice.

Trupe was the man. O'Brien puts me to sleep. And you can tell that Joe HATES working with O'Brien.

I heard accidents on 93 are up 100% from drivers falling asleep listening to O'Brien try to call a Red Sox game!!

Is it true that Trupe was fired for being too objective, and the new guys were seen as PR guy replacements? You know, the type of commentators who could find the positive side in being down 10-0 in the third inning?

I know I'll get killed for this, but I can't stand Remy and Orsillodogg the way the are always puffing everything. We need guys like McDonough who aren't afraid to be objective. But with Trupe losing his job for being TOO objective, it is going to be tough to find an announcer comfortable with being honest.

I think Trupe was fired for blowing a load, when someone would hit a shallow fly ball to left field.

Remy was all over Pedroia until recently. The kid could do no right to Remdog.

Your point =/= reality.....again.

remy is rarely critical. he's about 99% puffery when talking about the Sox.

still not as bad as the YES commentators. Those guys are the biggest homers. But Jerry isn't far behind.

anyway, I wish Trupe were still here, he's so much better than the new assclowns.

Hideki Okajima at the beginning of the season, as well.
