I have to agree. It's just not wise to bunt against a struggling pitcher. It did look like he was trying to bunt for a hit, but still, I'd much rather him swinging there.

Yea. f***ing NL. I don't understand why they can't use a DH when its the f***ing All-star game. No body wants to see a pitcher batting in the all-star game, it's supposed to represent the best players and no pitcher is good enough to qualitfy them as one of the best hitters... so keep them out of the lineup.

 

That was a really close call, it did look like Pedroia got his foot just before it actually touched the bag. Really close, good call.

Yea, its hard to tell. It looked like Diaz was coming up and slid his foot out over the plate, but hadn't touched it yet. Pedroia slapped on the tag just before he put his food down on the bag, it was close, i would need to see more replays, but I like the call. Who says Umpires don't have tough jobs!

Whoah, I didn't notice Villarreal is into the game now. Not something I agree with, especially in a double header. That's 6-7 innings of the bullpen. Mark Redman is warming though, he could give a few innings.

True Ted, but Im sure what Lugo's giving us now that he'll be here for at least the 4 years of his contract. With Lowell playing the way he is, its not far off to think that he can be resigned to a 2 year deal. Next year we could see for the first time in awhile the Sox having the same exact infield as the year before

Same could be said about Rickey Henderson and Kenny Lofton. Lugo is signed through his age 35/36 season. So Lugo will then play 2 seasons and be had in another Renteria type trade?

Let's be honest Lugo is fast, but he is not in that class of speed. This is why I was never in favor of a Lugo 4 year deal because if his speed comes down some, then he won't be nearly as valueable to the Red Sox. I hope he doesn't decline that much over the 4 years but thats probably not optimistic.
