Dirk is not an MVP. He can not elevate his game when it matters most. He may put up nice regular season stats but I think Kobe, Duncan, or Nash were all much more deserving than Dirk.

well it is for the regular season , playoffs has nothing to to with the MVP , and seing how the mavs sucked in the playoffs just proves to show how dirk is valuable to this team , he was a no show in the playoffs and the mavs sucked , without dirk this regular season the mavs would of had a hard time craking 50 wins

Wrong.

Nowitzki PPG Regular Season - 24.1/8.8/2.5 (I did the favor of subtracting out Dirk's two worst years.)

PPG Postseason - 25.1 PPG/10.5/2.2

This should have gone to Kobe Bryant' date=' but this isn't a terrible pick.[/quote']

Agreed.

The Mavericks quick exit from the postseason makes this look like a bad pick but people have to remember that the MVP is a regular season award.

He came up small in against Golden State, and the heat down the stretch last year. I watch the playoffs and stats aside he seems to struggle in big situations. I think that the award should have gone Nash again, with out him the suns are a very unorganized team. I think their record was like 3-8 without him this year.

What he did against the Heat in the Finals in 2006, means absolutely nothing. What he did against Golden State means absolutely nothing.

This is another weak argument.

I'm looking at numbers which say that Nowitzki is a better performer in the postseason.

You're saying he isn't in spite of this? Why should I believe you?

Before 2002, Barry Bonds sucked in the postseason. Yet he had won 3 MVPs by that point.

Crespo nailed it on the head. This isn't a bad pick, but I would have preferred Nash.

I don't agree with him getting it, Nash is a better choice. But it's w/e, I'd rather see the Suns lift the Larry O'Brien than Nash lift his 3rd in a row. And I'm sure he would too.

I'm surprised Lebron doesn't get more votes. You take him away from the Cavs and there a lottery team and not a playoff team plan and simple. But his time will come i'm sure, just thought i'd throw that into the argument.

You can make the same argument with Kobe. If he doesn't have that monster stretch of 50-point games, the Lakers miss the playoffs and are a lottery team.

nash was the best player in the league,he was remarkable all season and the suns really had nothing without him when he was out.

dirk is a 7'0 perimeter player,he needs to assert more of a low post game because he turns into houdini quite a bit,if hes getting the ball 6 feet from the hoop he can use his height for better things than jump shooting.

the 07 mavs have the legacy of being the team with the best record ever to fall in the 1st round and nowitzki had a lot to do with this failure

those playoff#s mean s*** when you consider golden state didnt play defense

for the regular season achievments i suppose you can give it to dirk but nash is right there as well

ok first of all the MVP is for regular season so it dosent matter what dirk did against GS, as shown in previous years the MVP goes to a player on a team with one of the best records , so there's no surprise here . and as far as dirk being a no show in the playoffs , he just had a bad series , he has played verry well in the past in the playoffs , it sucks that it happenned on a year he leads his team to 67 wins , also GS played out of their heads for the entire series , i mean look at them VS the jazz they couldn't do s***

Reading that would have saved you some time.
