I disagree. I think he pitched around Kubel with a base open, figuring he would get the DP from Cirillo. He pitched Cirillo fine, but the only problem was Cirillo fouled off about 5 good pitchers' pitches with 2-strikes on him. He wasn't wild to Cirillo, even the balls were borderline. After that it was cheap IF hits.

Santana got the pat on the back from Gardenhire. Chased him after 5. Good stuff.

Agreed, completely. Taverez' nice outing has nothing to do w/ our bats not producing as well.

Just like for Wake, no run support tonight.

Pineiro is doing a nice job.

One more at bat fella's....LET'S GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At least we have the top of the lineup in the 9th, but it's been pathetic so far especially in a game where Santana didn't last as long as expected!

f*** you offense for tonight, 14 baserunners and you can get just 1 measly run across. Just disgusting

Curt Schilling vs Sydney Ponson, are you going to hit the way youre supposed to?... or hit like a single A team you did just now?

Disappointing loss. We dominated the play on the field, but couldn't catch the breaks like they did. Oh well, get 'em tomorrow.

Hmm, maybe Lowell can have his "Manny moments" as well. Just seen several replays of the first inning with bases loaded. He was jogging and then held up right before he got to 1st base

EDIT: Tito says he might be resting 2 starters to "recharge". One of those players is Manny who is 19 for 47 against Ponson, thats a .404 avg

well truthfully i wasn't expecting the sox to win. The Dome sucks by the way i swear it gets worse every time i go there. The thing i love about it though are the cheap ass tickets like 12 dollars for decent seats. Ah well, fat ass Ponson up tomorow sox better win

Great pitchers can win when they don't have their best stuff. That's why they are great pitchers. Plenty of guys have really good stuff and are .500 pitchers.

Coulda won' date=' but not all the breaks go our way. At least it was a game we weren't supposed to win. Hopefully we take the series tomorrow.[/quote']

Agreed, just tough to take after seeing how close it actually turned out to be. Coming into last night I was thinking 2 out of 3. Its heavily in the Sox's favor to do that tomorrow

Tough loss, but there's some positives to be taken from this.

The pitching continues to be very good. 2 runs, 8 hits in 17 IP is certainly nothing to sneeze at.

It's good to see Pedroia have a bit of success, he got on base three times.

The offense was kind of bad, but they had their chances against the best pitcher in the game, and one of the more solid bullpens. If a bloop falls in here or there it can be a completely different ballgame.

I fully expect the offense to pound the crap out of Ponson tomorrow.
