Ugly save, but a win is a win. Papelbon's command has been shoddy lately. That needs to turn around.

Nice pitching boys! Sox shut out the Twins 2-0, imrpoving their AL best record to 19-9

Bullpen behind Papelbon continues to hold their own, Paps meanwhile started to rebound as he was touching 95/96 on the radar. That first out almost gave me a heart attack but he still settled down the side

Wake did enough yet again to give his boys a chance to get the W. He has just been great this season

Paps actually looked like he was struggling with his arm angle and release point...let's get that fixed!

Yeah, his arm slot looked lower than normal. If I recall correctly, Farrell is a big "study the tape" coach, so I'm sure they'll fix it.

f*** an AL leading, Sox have an MLB leading 19-9 record. We could have a very special season. Lester isn't even on the staff yet, Drew is in a funk, Manny is just starting to get hot, Matsuzaka has had some rough outings, and Pedroia has yet to hit. And we have the best record in baseball. This could be a very exciting season.

Now, to tomorrow boys. Tough game for Tavarez, but he can do it!

Drew has hit in his last couple of games (yesterday RBI single, today got a triple and scored an insurance run). Still got faith in Pedroia. Its kind of hard right now for him to get into a groove with Cora off to a hot start at the plate. If his playing time becomes too inconsistent they might have to start thinking about sending him down to Triple A for more ABs

Let's hope it has nothing to do with a shoulder problem.

Maybe he was just being overly aggressive due to the fact that he was coming off a blown save cause his velocity was there. if his velocity was still at 93-94, then id be worried about a shoulder problem

Also' date=' FWIW, the Red Sox have more stolen bases than the Yankees this season (18 vs 17). THAT is shocking.[/quote']

Last season the Sox were dead last in steals with 51. At their current pace the speedy combo of Lugo/Coco look to break that number themselves

As for triples, last season they were second to last with 16. After last night the Sox are just about halfway with 7 triples on the early season. The Yankees have had 2. Usually its the other way around the Yankees having better stats in those 2 categories

Wake with a 2.11 ERA, right now he is pitching as well as anybody on the staff. This reminds me kind of like two years ago when he was so dominant in september and was our ace that year.
