I wont be. I thought he pitched well. Unfortunately' date=' the yankees have been babying him to such a serious degree that he is nothing more than a 5IP pitcher right now. But he has the stuff. He has the swing and missability. He got f***ed by an ump this inning, which would have just ended without a run, instead of 2.[/quote']

If he gets another start it's plain stupidity on the part of the Yankees. This guy clearly needs to be stretched out. If they try to do that in the majors, you are really risking losses everytime he goes out there. That stuff should be done in AAA where win and losses aren't too important.

Well this game is not a lost cause, but the chances of the bullpen holding them here not likely. I think it's funny that a lot of Yankee fans, including ones on this board, were talking about how much of an advantage the Yankees bullpen was for them going into the Red Sox series, and that the Red Sox bullpen was relatively weak. It's not that the Yankees bullpen isn't good, but they're very tired and they simply do not throw enough strikes. On top of that, I'm not sure if I heard correctly while watching the Sox game last night, but did they say that the Red Sox took over the lead in bullpen ERA. I was very impressed with the way they're guys pitched this weekend.

You really can't stop running here. Against someone like Burnett you have to force the issue. He is slow to home.

It's weird, but I'm much more upset by the performance of the offense than the pitching. I realize they have lost a great deal of starters to injury, and they will be back soon. The offense, on the other hand, has been an issue in my opinion. Some of the guys just aren't swinging the bat real well, and I don't think A-Rod is getting enough protection.

I hate Joe Torre.

I can see over the course of the season, but nothing in this game has upset me. If you're referring to Minky, it's not like he's cost the Yankees anything in this game. Abreu and Posada were the guys that came up with big oppurtunites and couldn't make solid contact.

EDIT: On top of that, it's not like he's making all the decisions. To be perfectly honest I have a bigger problem with Guidry than I do with Torre.

If you're looking at Minky as the source of the Yankees problems, I think that's off base. The starting pitchers are hurt, the bullpen is overworked, and the other left handed hitters on this team really aren't swinging the bat well, especially in big spots. Abreu has really frustrated me this year.

Sterling and Waldman keep talking about how Hughes how earned another start. I understand he wasn't awful today, but he needs to be stretched out. A major league ballclub, let alone a major league ballclub with a bullpen that is on pace to set the all time record for innings pitched is not the place stretch him out. You have to think about the present and the future. If they give Hughes more starts with the Yankees, they're doing neither in my opinion.

we really do suck these days.

To be fair, Burnett is great tonight. If he could just stay healthy he'd be talked about among the best in baseball.

I just looked up Clemens game log in his fir year 1984. After his first 6 appearances, he was 2-1 with 7.13 ERA. Two years later he was a star, but he threw quite a bit harder than Hughes. The Yankees might have something very special in a couple of years, but I think it is safe to say that he'll be a non-factor in 2007. If he has Clemens stats after his first six starts, he'll be sent to the minors for the rest of the year.

On Michael Kay's radio show, he said that if the Yankees lost tonight and then get swept by the Red Sox to be 8 games out of first that he would not be surprised if Torre got fired.

Kay has a radio show?

I'm so sick of this 8 games out, whoa-is us s***. I bet the Yankees win at least 10 in a row at some point this season, at which point they will be credited as being 'amazing' and resilient. Same story, different year.

Look at the first few posts...great insight as to when he compared the idea of jinxing a perfect game to the Holocaust.

You know who this kid reminds me of? Mark Prior.

He has great stuff, but he appears to throw with all arm. I really hope he can stay healthy. Actually, no I don't. No maliciousness here, I just don't like it when the yankees win.

Is it safe to say the Yanks need 2/3 this weekend?

I think they're primed to do it (Pettite and Wang should win) but what would the rwaction in NYYland be if they drooped a series to the Sox at home?

I think they're primed for a good series. They could use a really good run just like the sox got last week but I am hoping for--at worst--1 of 3 for the sox.

A mitigating factor could be Dice-K's start. If he comes out and is dominant then what happens in the next two games looks less important. Fortunately, Wakefield has been pretty well against the Yankees in the past three years (3-5, 12 GS, 2 CG, 80 IP, 55 H, 34 BB, 54K, .191 BAA).

NY TIMES Headline: Yankees swept again...

The NY Yankees were swept this weekend at home by the hated rival Boston Red Sox. Dice-K threw a 2 hit shutout in the first games as Andy Pettite realized he should have stayed in Houston or retired gives up 6 runs in 3 1/3 innings. The BP looks like a mash unit.

Game 2 Wakefield out duels TBA for the 3-1 victory as Manny hits a 2 run home run in the 8th of off a pitcher made up of body parts of Scott Proctor, Kyle Farnsworth, and Andy Pettite´s left ass cheek. Game 3 JT goes 7 strong innings to stun the NYY fans, the Sox go on to win 6-0. The Yankees now sit 8 games back of 1st place, are in last place. Steiny is having daily chestpains and has developed teret syndrome were he cusses Torre´s name at length for hours.

Finally in a last ditch effort to change the fortune of the Yankees, the beloved fans hold a mass suicide on the grounds of the new stadium. Bud Selig sees this as a bad message to the fans and shutsdown the NYY franchise....

Of course this is worst case scenario LOL
