Zach Greinke will leave the royals for a couple games to attend the funerals of his grandparents. They travelled to watch him pitch, then both died within hours of each other. It looks like natural causes too.

So I was wondering, is this a sad story, or one of those Notebook-esque (yeah, I watched it with my wife and no I am not gay) nice moments.

I don't know but I do see what you're getting at. I think it could be nice for them, the grandparents, if there is any sort of afterlife or anything, and maybe it's how they wanted it. For the famiy, though, very sad. Tough to lose two one member of the family... I couldn't even imagine losing two so close to one another.

In a way it's good. Because now whenever he gets out their to pitch, he can have some sort of motivation, he can pitch for his grandparents, like a little dedication to them.

It is sad to lose family in such a manner however. My father lost both his parents just within a year apart and both from the same causes, heart attack.
