Durant is doing well in school too. I like these guys and hope they do well. And I hope Oden does well in Celtic green. BTW, if Ainge gets the pick and passes up Oden or Durant, will he be dropped from the pru and his lifeless body be hung for all to see in Quincy Market?

after watching Oden score at will on a 7'2" lottery pick, I would think Doc would be tanking games from here on out. Oden is a manchild and should be the face of Boston for yrs to come. You know, the celts have always taken a backseat to everything else Boston even when they were winning. If Oden comes to town, the media frenzy will be enormous and I wouldnt be surprised if basketball becomes the second sport of Boston. I'd start watching games again, I know that.

I like Oden as both a player and a person, since he's never broken the law or given anybody any reason not to like him, but the hype he gets is ridiculous. He's so quick to be praised, but does anybody ever criticize him? For as great as you guys talk about him being, how many posts from you have there been when he's struggled, which has been the case in two or three games in this tournament? This is a guy that's been in foul trouble in every single game of the tournament but the first. Missed all but about two minutes of the first half in tonight's game and it's not an anomaly -- him being in foul trouble is common place. And this was with Jeff Green playing a ridiculously passive basketball game. Joakim Noah and Al Horford will have him on the bench in no time. Extremely good player -- will be an NBA All-Star eventually, but come on people, they're not in the Championship game because of Greg Oden (In fact, a should-be intentional foul is the reason they should be watching the Finals from home). Give Mike Conley some love -- this is a basketball team that's looked great in the absence of Oden when he's on the bench.

In regards to Billy Donovan -- I think the fact that Horford, Brewer, and Noah came back speaks volumes as to how great of a program he runs.

Noah will be a SLIGHTLY above-average NBA player AT BEST. Mark my words.

He will be a lottery pick. Mark my words. I don't care how good he'll be, this guy could've left and gone very high in last years draft. Besides, I think you're selling him short. He's a very good player, he's just not the type that'll awe you in any one aspect of the game.

oden is a child still

i have called him out for being clumsy in this very thread

hes gotten better and better offensively every single game hes played

and after 4 months of hi pressure hoop he is finally shooting with his right hand

defensively he will have much more help than he gets now

he is still a child who will learn to pick and choose what shots he needs to contest in the pros

any doubts of his ability shouldve been erased in the 2nd half of the gtown game and i expect him to have a big game today

gerry mac had a great nite that evening in 03

however

that was roy williams on the other side

that man can f*** up a wet dream and an open bar

conley wont score 25 tonite,he doesnt have to

he needs to hold onto the ball, keep the game in the 50s/60s and keep the big man involved in the low post

hey

this fla team has waltzed thru 2 straight tourneys and hasnt been tested this year

if they win this game by 20 i wont be suprised

It's shame this game is on opening day. I think it's a hell of a matchup, but I'll have a hard time switching over to it with baseball on for 12 straight hours today.

Hoops just doesn't grab me like the diamond does. I prefer the NCAA to the NBA, and the tourney is special every year, but baseball is king to me.

preaching to choir.

Oden needs to have a big game today. Honestly' date=' the last freshman tandem like this to be leaned upon so heavily in a championship run was what? Melo and GMac in the Cuse?[/quote']

You can argue that Mike Conley has been more important to this run than Oden.

Far more important. When Oden's on the bench with foul trouble, the Ohio State team plays just as good for a reason. I would also suggest that Ron Lewis has been more important than Oden.

What's the over/under on when Oden sits down with two fouls? Noah and Horford are just going to go right at him.

I'll give him five minutes in.

it is the way Thad Motta runs his offense. The guards run the show. If I was coaching, I'd make Oden the centerpiece of that offense. Too many times they take wild shots without feeding the big fella when they know that 60% of the time they give it to him, he will either get fouled or put it in the hoop. Then again, I know next to nothing about basketball and Motta got em to the finals, so off the soapbox I go.

You're overrating Oden's offensive skills. He doesn't have much in terms of low post moves, so he's not terribly great with his back to the basket -- and he's a terrible free throw shooter no matter which hand he's shooting with. I've heard Conley called the best freshman PG ever -- unfortunately with everybody on Oden's nuts, Conley doesn't get mentioned near as much as he deserves. Conley's more important to that team, for one, because he's never sitting on the bench in foul trouble. He's also more important because he doesn't let Ohio State get sucked into anybody elses game -- the game gets played at Ohio State's tempo. Say what you want about how they don't get it into Oden's hands offensively, but the fact is, guard play is the only reason Ohio State is still alive.

Kenny Anderson was the best freshman PG I've ever seen, and probably ever will. He was insane good at GT. As far as gross numbers and skills go, Pistol Pete is hard to overlook - although he wasn't playing varsity until his sophmore year due to the rules.

There were a good 5 or 6 instances on Saturday when Conley just blew by people to get easy layups.

Dude's been better than Oden in the tourny, IMO, for a lot of the reason's See Red said. But Oden is clearly going to be special.

God I hope Florida loses.

Since I'm from Tennessee and a Vol fan, I should be pulling for the SEC but I can't root for the Gaytors! Back to Back and a Nat title in football......hell can't freeze over can it?

Florida is going to run away with this game. It's already begining. They hawk the ball like that and run the court all day. I think Ohio State's best chance is if they go cold.
