I just don't see the point of you continuing to bring those two up. They F'ed up and changed their tactic. It's one you agree with. What more do you want?
I was just contradicting the premise that dismantling Championship teams is common today. The White Sox re-signed their stars that first off-season and added Thome. The Cards are re-signing their stars. Only the small market expansion teams have dismantled their championship at faster rates. When I posted that, Riverside accused me of still being pissed about Pedro. That wasn't my point. My point is that dismantling a Championship team is not the norm.

Actually the Cardinals are in only "ok" shape for 2007. The way I see it, is that the NL Central will be tagged with title "Open Season". There is no clear standout

The Cards havent been resigning their stars, sans Jim Edmonds. Their 2 top starters in the playoffs besides Chris Carpenter are now gone. Jeff Suppan is with the rival Brewers. Jeff Weaver is now with the Mariners. The current rotation is looking like Carpenter, Anthony Reyes, Adam Wainwright, Kip Wells and an undetermined 5th starter

And 700 about Pedro... the Sox were concerned about his right shoulder I believe. This past offseason he had to get surgery on, you guessed it, his right shoulder. They knew this was coming and didnt want to hand over a 4 year $$ contract to a guy they knew would eventually break down

You say this as if it is nothing. He's their All Star CF and he's way older than Damon.

They kept their star. The other two are marginal starters' date=' certainly not stars.

It's not just about Pedro.

I said they didnt sign their free agent stars' date=' sans Jim Edmonds. In no way was that a jab at Edmonds. I thought "sans" was another word for "except" or "not including"?[/quote']Duh, I know what sans means. I wasn't sure that you knew. You said:
The Cards havent been resigning their stars' date=' sans Jim Edmonds[/quote']He and Carpenter were the two biggest stars that were eligible for FA. They re-signed them both. The other guys (Weaver and Suppan) haven't been stars since they were in the the minors.

Actually just putting this in there thats all, Carpenter would have been a free agent after the 2007 season. I was just saying that the Cardinals didnt sign their free agent starts, not including Jim Edmonds which is ok to say. Suppan and Weaver were a very big part why they were a force in the playoffs.

The Cards re-signed or extended their stars as did the White Sox. No stars left the Cards. Saying they re-signed no stars except (i.e.,sans) Edmonds, leads one to the conclusion that other stars left. None did.
