i think it would be a good move if it were to happen you dont find closers with his stuff to often .. does anyone know if hansen is ready ?? and plus hes gotta be better than pinero .

Hansen cannot be counted on based on his '06 performance. I'm sure the Sox have thought all winter about Paps coming back as the closer and it really is the only logical move. My guess is, he'll be closing games. The only concern is the how he physically handles closing, which seemed to wear him down last season.

im not comfortable with him closing because im under the impression that he can be dominant as a starter too and it would be better for his health to as i understand

If the sox make a bid at Clemens and land him, which I don't see happening, then paps will be back as closer. I think by seasons start Papelbon will be the 4th starter. But who knows.

i do not see papelbon starting the season as a closer, but i wouldnt be suprised if he is shifted to close about half way through the year

Papelbon will NOT shift roles halfway through the season. Why do so many people think he can just transition that easily? Do you guys want his career cut in half because of arm problems he'll suffer from as a result of such a transition?

not happening. with his shoulder trouble it would be the dumbest thing they could do this year. Id say theres less then a 10% chance of Paps closing

Unles you're a doctor and are very familiar with Papelbon issues not one knows the answer of that, Piniedo isn't the answer he may had pitched better as a reliever than he did as a starter but he has never close out games and his stuff may be short for that, like i posted earlier the talks among baseball people is that when the Sox breaks camp that Papelbon will be the closer again.
