NFL Playoff Game Thread - 2006 Season

You guys hear what they're doing over at Qualcomm Stadium? There's no NFL rule against it' date=' so the Chargers aren't selling tickets to Patriots' fans. They want to improve their home-field advantage by having only Chargers fans to make it as loud as possible. Does that sound kind of illegal to anyone...? I mean it's obviously not if they're doing it without penalty...it just sounds weird. Whatever, the Pats have proven time and again that they can withstand crowd noise. I just heard it on NewsCenter 5's Eyeopener. No link, sorry.[/quote']

thats ridiculous , but all you have to do is pretend your a chargers fans and get tickets :D

EDIT : nevermind you have to live in southern california to get tickets thats ridiculous

They teamed up with ticketmaster (I smell a tray at a lawsuit after the playoffs) to sell tickets to a National football playoff game, to only Charger fans who live in Southern California. Funny thing is that they are also shutting out Chargers fans who dont live anywhere near their hometown team. This might set a tempo for other teams and even different sports

I guess they reserve the right to refuse service to anyone. Pretty damn good idea if you ask me but I'm sure the NFL will have a rule about it soon enough. Good thinking Chargers... but I'm sure you guys have a better read on this than I do... were there a lot of Patriots fans expecting to travel to San Diego?

There will be a ton of pats fans there that are SoCo transplants. Simmons said in his chat today he thinks there could be between 10,000-12,000 Pats fans there.

Much more than you would think.

Interesting! Then yeah, good move by the Chargers. I file it under being if they need it to be an all Chargers crowd as much as this makes it seem like they do... then they have bigger problems.

this is what im talking about

why would an nfl team that won 14 games fail to sell out??

why would there be 15,000 tix available to pats fans??

outside the basic discrimination laws that may apply this is par for the course for the fan base of southern california

they just dont give a s***,sort of the atlanta braves of football

no matter what, the sun will shine and it'll be 75 degrees tommorow

Lawsuit? For what?

If it isn't unusual, then what's the problem?

I just don't think there's a legal precedence to sue.

No one's being harmed here. If anything, SD are hurting themselves.

Correct. Itwasn't based on race, religion, ect. It was based on zip code. How is it diffent from the Pats or any other teams from restricting sales to season ticket holders.

What if other teams/sports took precedence. Say if there's a Sox/Yankees playoff series in the near future... New York to stay competitive, says "Ya know what? Only ticket buyers in the state of New York can buy tickets for the games played at Yankee Stadium"

Plain & simple, what the Chargers & now Bears are doing will set a precent for teams until it completely gets out of hand

When have the Patriots restricted tickets to a playoff game to only buyers from New England? Its all about class

No one is being physically or emotionally harmed by their decision. If anything, it hurts them more because they lose out on ticket revenue.

If teams wanted to take the risk of only allowing fans of their teams to buy tickets that's their decision. They're the ones who need to be aware of the possible economic risks.

If anything, class always takes a backseat to the almighty dollar. If the Patriots are the better team on the field, it makes no difference who is in the stands.

I think the Colts are going to finish off one of these drives, and I don't like the Ravens down by a couple of scores in the second half. The only quick strike thing on their team is the defense, but it's usually when teams are down and have to be aggressive.

Wow. That was a gimmie 6. Peyton was amped up on that throw. Maybe he should switch to.....D-CAF!...D-CAF!

Ravens deserved those boos from their fans. The Ravens secondary defense has been atroscious (spelling) the smallest space in between themselves and Wayne/Harrison has been 5 yards or so. Bad decision on Billick to run the ball out with a minute left isnt something you do in a playoff game, 45 yards down the field and boom you are in position to try for a field goal

I think Peyton is playing this smart. Once he gets into FG range, he is making passes that can only be caught by his receivers. With Vinatieri, he just needs to get them near the goal. If this D keeps it up, the colts will be tough.
