The non-tenders are out and there are some names that have been linked to the Sox on the list. Joel Pinero, Marcus Giles, and Toby Hall are the main names I've seen pop up from time to time. Do we think the Red Sox make a run at any of these guys?

Why Giles? He wasn't too convincing last season and Pedroia looks essentially the same except he's younger and cheaper.

There was a lot of talk about Toby during the Manny negotiations so I think he is someone they would have interest in.

As far as spending sprees, they are going to be right up against the luxury tax cap - I can't see them going over because of a backup catcher (and we still need someone to close).

Doesn't matter anymore the Herald is reporting that Mirabelli has been signed to a 1 year deal.

I heard that Seattle was considering trying Pinero out as a relief pitcher. I wouldnt mind the Sox taking a low cost risk on him

Piniero lost some velocity and doesnt have enough stuff to compensate. I think he signs a minor league deal somewhere and disappears.

could be. I remember when he first came up. He was NASTY with a 95+ heater. When I saw him last, he was hitting 91-92 tops.

I'd like to see the Sox sign Adam Harben. Coming off TJ surgery but is just 23 and was a Top 10 pitching prospect of the Twins just a couple years back. 6'5" beast and had great K rates in the low minors. Got good ratings from BA and Twins scouts.
