Has anyone even mentioned the fact that if Jones replaced Manny as this team's number 4 hitter, Ortiz would be pitched to less often? Jones is an offensive threat, but he's the best pure hitter in baseball. He protects Ortiz MUCH better than Jones ever would. Jones isn't consistent enough to protect someone like Ortiz. He has a powerhouse bat, but it's not consistent enough. Someone like Jones would be easier to trade, but Manny has more value to this team.
