Soriano could come in and take the Manny spot play 2nd or LF. Manny and Pedroia traded to Texas for Michael Young. Willy Mo can play LF or RF and hit in the 7 spot. Our team ERA can be very effective with the run support we did not get from the middle infield positions.

I understand we'd get Soriano....but that is not nearly enough for losing Manny AND a guy like Pedroia who raked the minors.

Pedroia hit for crap in the bigs..He had all the time to make an impresion on the fans and the team. He failed. We unload Manny who could not even tough it up in the cruncha and a guy who I believe will never be tough enough. Keep hoping for Dustin but he did not scare too many oponents. ..Correction ..he did not scare any.

Manny is the best hitter in the MLB. f*** man, he had a torn meniscus. Do you understand that kind of injury? I've had the same damn thing as him. YOU CAN'T BEND YOUR LEG. If that torn piece of his meniscus got lodged into his knee joint, it locks. I don't know the extent of it, but it's similar to Tek's injury that required surgery. They don't always need surgery because the extent of such injuries don't always require surgery, but you can NOT expect someone to f***ing "tough it out." They're still human beings.

 

Pedroia played just over ONE month of baseball in the bigs. It's amazing how quickly people will write a kid like Pedroia off.

 

I'm also amazed that you're content with Wily Mo, but Pedroia needs to go. What's your reasoning there? Wily Mo has "proved" himself? WMP has shown very promising signs, but he has in NO way sold me that he'll be a legitimate OFer. I believe he can be, I just need to see it. If you're willing to give WMP a starting job, then how the HELL how are you not willing to give Pedroia a chance?

Hey, Michael Young is a helluva player, but Manny is a first rate superstar and Pedroia is going to an outstanding player for us for a long time.

Did u see him throw? Not very impressive. WMP had games that carried the Sox. Dustin did not. But then again he only had 31 games to do that Pedroia is not a bad kid, in my mind he just isn't a starter. He can prove me wrong. If that happens cool. If not, where does he fit in?

If not, it's not the end of the world. He's a rookie next year. Give him a season or two. Don't jump on his back.

 

As for his arm, I agree with you there. That's why I want him at 2B instead of SS. You saw a lot of him at SS last year, which is not where he'd normally be playing. His arm looked weaker because of the longer throw. He's more suited for 2B.

He did not have a torn meniscus. He had patellar tendonitis. Either way, it is painful and it will heal. Dealing Manny should only be a consideration if Theo has a good backup plan and if he can land a good young closer. If it is solely for money, then theo will lose all his credibility.

Dealing Manny is not going to happen. We have gone threw this every year. he has 2 years left on his contract he will go elsewhere or re-sign in BOS, so lets not worry about him going anywhere unless it was ablockbuster trade and I dont see it Happening. Michael young? I agree with the earlier crack statement. In fact I think old Theo would have to be dead and someone else signing his name on that one. As much as some people dislike Manny for sitting out at the end of the year I'm glad they did it. We had little shot att the playoffs and with our pitching was looking at an early 1st round exit. So why risk the greatest tandom since babe and gehrig for that? It was a smart move, move on......

And all of that time was a grand total of... 1 month in the majors. Not much too gauge that he's gonna continue to bat Mendoza for the Sox. Also at that point, he had already been through a full season of Triple A

Manny hit .170 in 1993 in 53 at bats.

 

It's just too early to make any judgements on a guy like Pedroia.
