My campaign to bring Tony back. He has helped every club he has been on and did well for us year before last. With Cora as a backup we bring in Tony and work a trade for Michael Young to play SS. Money well spent.

Who do you propose we deal to get Michael Young to play SS? I like Tony G but what does Cora being on the team have anything to do with it?

I'm taking some of the things you say with a grain of salt when you said that you'd be content with Tavarez as a fifth starter.

And Dustin sits with his thumb up his ass in AAA for another year?

Dustin did not prove much to me this year. His arm is average at best. Bat is less than average. My guess wil become a utility player.

Nice sample size you got there. Did you not take into account the numerous hard hit balls that were stolen from him almost once a game? What about his hot streak near the end? You need to give him a full year before you write the guy off.

Schill, quick, put a sock in Tex's mouth before he embarrasses Red Sox Nation. Pedroia has to play. I'm glad someone noticed all the ropes he hit right at people that with a little luck could have made him hit about 60 points higher this season. Graff back? We went through this last year. I liked Tony, too, but there is no room for him here anymore. Besides, I never heard he could play shortstop.

I consider you a friend because you are a Red Sox fan so please take this advice from a colleague. Don't step in any more horse dung with those ridiculous posts because you are becoming an embarrassment. You can do better, so do it.:dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

.191 embarrased Red Sox Nation. Ropes? If r aunt had balls she'd be your uncle ...it is what it is.

And thinking graffanino should return to the sox is even more foolish. The guy is a backup at best.

Tex, quit while you still have your chance. Graffanino is a reserve IF; if he were anything else clubs would be lining up to sign him. As for Pedroia, my opinion is that he is going to be a very good player for the Red Sox because he has been that everywhere he has player. He has hit, fielded, ran the bases well, shown good gap power, and has brought a real enthusiasm and energy to every team he has played on. In the 2005 College World Series, his Arizona State Coach, Pat Murphy, wore a cap that had the words "Dustin Pedroia" written on the back. Dustin was by that time playing Double A ball. That ought to tell you something about the infielder.

This is a prank, right? I mean, if we wanted to talk about replacing Cora with Graffanino, OK. Replacing a young, talented player who costs $350k a year with an old, worse player who costs a couple million+ a year is plain old wacky. No offense, Tex.

Pedroia didn't impress, that may be true. But when an organization has hyped a young player to the extreme they've done with Pedroia, and he has tasted the bigs without much success, his value DECREASES...in other words Dustin is worth less now than what he was worth before he was brought up.

So what's the solution..what do they do? Play him. Play him and let him prove he that he is as valuable as once thought. Personally I think its a mistake to walk away from a player in this situation, either through trade or by demotion. He needs to play.

He will play. Couple things from Pedroia's brief time up at the end of last year...

His K rate was 7% - lowest on the team behind Loretta's 9%. That's lowest on the team while facing major-league pitching for the first time. His line-drive percentage was 22.5% - perfectly fine. His BABIP, however, was .188. That's over a hundred points below league average. He was incredibly unlucky. If he had just five more balls get through the infield (and I can think of three against Anaheim that were highlight reel plays just off the top of my head) he hits .260 and everything is hunky-dory.

Yahtzee!

When Loretta was hitting close to the Mendoza line last spring I pointed to the exact same two indicators, BABIP and LD%, as reason for optimism. And, voila! he was hitting .300 by the ASG.

If I haven't said it yet, welcome to the board. It's always nice to have new members who know the numbers.

Right you are Bosox. I was at Anaheim Stadium for that three game series and I know of at least four balls he hit on the button that were snared by the defense. I saw this happen on NESN a few times as well. If some of those balls fall in next season Pedroia will be a player we will all be talking about. I'm a big fan of Dustin and I think he will bring a lot of energy and a solid bat to the team starting next year.

yeah, the kid made solid contact eventually and was pesky at the plate. I think a full season will show what he's capable of, I'm expecting realistically .280/.358/.412, 11 HR and 65 RBI.
