Just thought Id start a thread where we can discuss deals going on other than the Red Sox & Yankees. This is right now the calm before the storm

--

Devil Rays agreed to terms with infielder-outfielder Greg Norton on a one-year contract with a club option for 2008.

Norton, 34, had experienced little success this decade before hitting .296/.374/.520 with 17 homers and 45 RBI in 294 at-bats for the Rays this season. He won't be nearly as good next year, but he might remain a solid bench player.

Greg Norton alongside Ty Wigginton was one of the unexpected surprises for Tampa Bay. He certainly did well vs Boston, highlight the walkoff HR vs Tavarez... which came after the Boston bullpen blew a 6-2 lead in 2 innings

Noooooo not Meche!

why not? he made 32 starts this year, pitched 186 innings, was 11-8 and was "fair" for the most part, oiutside of a horrible stretch in August where he lost command and was walking guys.

But he is only 28, and almost Arroyo-ish in some ways, although Arroyo is better. He'd be a good back of the rotation candidate and I think we've learned you can't have too much pitching.
