Whatever helps you sleep THIS October

Oh, I'm fine. I've been at peace with this team sinking since before they got swept in KC. Besides, I'm perfectly fine knowing that the Twins will be representing the AL in the world series this year.

Thank god you put quotes around that.

You knew what I mean, right? Sunday night, Sox-Yanks. Sox trying to show some pride, the Yankees trying to celebrate. It's "big" in relation to the rest of the Sox' games this season.

Nice sweep today. That's good.

Great play by Coco, that was a game saver.

I hope that Crisp and Pedroia and WMP and Paps and Beckett can bring this team some youthful exhuberance next season.

Yeah I got ya. I thought Torre played the game like it was a ST game. He left Myers in to face right hander after right hander.

Would you rather he burn out your pen? You know it is very tough for Joe not to go to his horses.

There's a reason for that. He could care less about these games since he'll actually be managing in October.

and like I said he played it right for the most part. There are only a couple of little things that I could jump on but its not the reason why we lost.

Oh my! I guess Terry will not. I didn't think of that.

First Sox sweep of a DH vs the Yankees since '76' date=' first at Yankee Stadium since '73[/quote']Was that 1973 sweep on July 4th, because I was there that day. Game 1 was Stottlemyre vs. Ray Culp and the Red Sox won 2 -1 with 2 runs in the 9th. I believe Yaz scored the winner on an errant throw by Bernie Allen on a DP relay and Yaz scored from second base. Spahky was on the mound. The nightcap was a 1-0 win with Moret getting the victory over Doc Medich. I'm not sure how the Sox scored the run, but I think it was a homer.

Edit: I just looked it up. The run in the second game scored on a Yaz single. Moret was a real Yankee killer. That was the first of two shutouts that I watched him pitch against the yankees. The second one was in 1975 at Shea Stadium (Yankees played there two years). The first game was a 1-0 Bill Lee victory and Rookie Freddie Lynn made a game-saving catch with 2 outs and the bases loaded in the 8th inning. Nettles hit a ball to the Left centerfield gap. it just kept slicing away from Lynn who made a diving sliding catch and Rookie Jim Rice hopped over him as he caught the ball. Lynn from his knees raised his glove above his head to show he had mad the catch. In the nightcap, Moret pitched a 6-0 shutout. I believe that Yaz hit a homer in that game. Don't remember the Yankee pitchers.

That would be correct

EDIT: In the end, the player of the game was Coco Crisp who is trying to end his first season as a Sox positively. This was the Sox/Yankees game I have been looking forward to seeing him making a great impact on.
