tumped , tump·ing , tumps

VERB:

tr.

To overturn. Often used with over: You're about to tump that thing over.

His 3TDs will tump down LJ

Thanks, I now feel educated. It will come in handy in heated conversation at a drinking establishment.

Pretty sure he means "trump". A tump, per online dictionaries, is a small hill or mound of earth. Don't be had SFoC.

Congrats on that fantasy league win' date=' ORS. LT picked quite a week to start sucking (aka, not scoring any TDs)[/quote']

Thanks. Next year we should have the final week be week #16. Once the playoff spots are established, the stars rarely play if they are going into the playoffs. I had a doozy of a time setting my roster with several players teams' already having their spot secured and nothing to play for. It's almost like you have to pick up players for the end of the year that are on bubble teams because you know they'll have to play.

How can the Giants justify giving Tom Coughlin a one year extension with what happened to that team? That team fell apart and he lost them a long time ago. That appears to have been destined for failure since day one. I guess he convinced them that he could improve Eli Manning... but Eli's only regressed under Coughlin.

Speaking of Non-Pats chatter...

See Red, you must be thrilled with Coyer's sacking :)

I'm loving it! :D

I'm sick of a complete lack of adjustments at halftime.

Who were the Giants going to hire to replace Coughlin? It's a veteran team who wanted continuity, and, in the players' meetings, said that Coughlin did not lose respect of the players.

You can't just have him be a lame duck for next year, so that explains the extension. If they bomb next year, then he'll be fired.

Fire him now is what I would have expected. Make a run at, like, Mike Sherman or somebody. Tom Coughlin has been a failure since day one. He's never had the team... there were problems from the start, initially with his 'Coughlin Standard Time'. Eli Manning has regressed and there was entirely too much turmoil in that lockerroom.

I never believed Manning would be anything special, and the franchise is left floundering because they gave up wayyy too much for him.

But I think if the injuries that the Giants suffered did not happen, the Giants would have run away with the NFC East and would be playing this weekend.

If he sucks next year, fire him. But there's not a lot out there in terms of coaching, and you can do a lot worse than Tom Coughlin.

That's almost true... yes there is no "big" name coach out there that can turn around a team with just his signing. Though there are brillant minds that need the players to buy into the system. That's the key everywhere in the NFL, it's how your personal believe in the system and how exact they preform the system.

Coughlin could be a good coach, but he seemed like he never could be wrong, and always needed to blame someone else. I dont like his style and he never put faith into his players, and thats why it fell apart, becuase they gave the same back to him. But I truthfully loved it becuase its a main reason, I feel, the Jets did good too this year, becuase everyone was too busy talking about the Giants to let pressure form to the Jets.

I also feel that Eli could be very good, hes just making himself live in Peytons shadow, but he can get out of it as fast as he wants, he also needs to stop sulking after he does bad, he needs to act like mistakes dont faze him, and hes not doing that, and its making him a sitting duck

This just reminded me with the first line, who do you guys think the Steelers will get? Becuase they have a superbowl capable team, and whoever they get as a coach will have to make them be like a 11 win team next year?

I bet Grimm or Wisenhunt is hired in the next few days.

As for Coughlin, the players themselves said that he didnt lose the locker room. If Amani Toomer and Strahan don't get hurt, they're still playing.

If he goes 8-8 next year, he'll be gone.

coughlins forte was discipline

that team wasnt disciplined at all

he panicked a lot this year as well, coaching like his job was on the line since november

i think hes toast but ownership let the players know who is in charge

eli manning??

could he be the sam bowie of the nfl

Sam Bowie? I'd say no because who from that 2004 draft would be the 'Michael Jordan', or even the 'Hakeem Olajuwan'? Plus, Eli has shown flashes of being a good QB. I don't think he's going anywhere under Coughlin but if you get the right guy in there he could be very good.

Tim Couch is a far worse number one pick than Eli. And Ryan Leaf at number two was probably the worst ever.

Bowie wasn't terrible. He could've been a good player if not for injuries as I understand it. The number two and three picks are the only reason we remember him as one of the biggest busts ever.

i know

but they gave up merriman and rivers and was it the kicker?? to get him

the worst 3rd down qb in football #s wise and degressed to the point of needing some competetion this off season or even being dumped for his futility

sure it maybe too early but archie never won, payton never won and this kid is getting worse than better

there have been more than a few #1s who never made the big time

kijana carter, dan mcguire, david klingler, andre ware andy katz here in new england etc

drafting is an inexact science but what sandiego did to ny or better yet, what archie did to his kid and ny,is illegal in most red states and warrants public hanging in alabama i think

bowie played at kentucky under joe b hall and made the final 4 i believe

a 7' cajun kid who had a good perimeter game but was injured in college which shouldve sent a missile thru the portland organization

jordan was underated in college cause of daugherty perkins worthy and the white guard who coached at nd and then nc(irish kid cant remember his name)

4 pros on the same floor and the white kid could shoot lites out

jordan didnt avg 20 in school

the joke was ""whos the only guy who can hold jordan under 20 a nite""

dean smith was the answer

akeem was also a stud in college

phi slamma jamma with clyde the glide drexler, larry micheau and andrew franklin

3 final 4s

2 finals

lost to nc state on the improbable last second shot

got beaten badly by pat ewings gtown team in 84 and louisville took then out the other year

Good stuff. Can't really disagree with any of it! I think it's hard to call Eli Manning a bust at this point, though. First off, they took my least favorite approach -- throwing him into the fire extremely early in his career as opposed to letting him sit back and learn -- and second that he did show some progress, but he did regress this year. He's gotten into the terrible habit of throwing the ball up towards the middle of the field to nobody in particular... he's got to shake that for sure.

they brought in warner to aid his development and if i remember he got hurt after fumbling the ball quite often

they shouldve brought in tori holt iassac bruce and marshall faulk and an offensive line that didnt commit 10 penalties in a playoff game they shouldve won

o well

qbs usually take time to groom

problem with that is the fans know who is who and whats what

the minute a starter sucks or gets hurt the fans insist on seeing the 50,000,000.00 ball player on the field rather than the gus ferrottes and jon jon kitnas of the world

it isnt right

it is human nature however

I just want to clear somethng up, I lost a bet when the Titans beat the Patriots because i figured that the Pats would rest more players and my part of the deal was to take the role of a Jets fan for 2 weeks. It's been a long, painful journey but I'm glad it's over. I just want to clear up any confusion before I start posting in the NFL threads.

Denver Broncos will trade George Foster, Tatum Bell, and a 5th round pick to the Detroit Lions for two time Pro Bowl CB Dre Bly. Great trade since heading into the off-season, it looked like neither Tatum Bell nor George Foster would be Broncos next season... certainly not Foster.

Also, Jamal Lewis and Brad Johnson were cut by the Ravens and Vikings respectively.

I don't know anything about how it'd work cap-wise but since the Broncos are trying to get away from the running back by committee and just employ one dominate RB, if we could get Jamal Lewis in Denver, I'd be a happy man.
