How about Mich. St coming back with 38 unanswered points in the 2nd half to beat Northwestern 41-38?

This past year has been horrible for Northwestern..hmmm where to start..

First they blow a 21 point lead in the sun bowl

Then their QB graduates

Then their coach dies

Then they get beaten by a D-2 team, and get embarassed by 3 big 10 teams and Nevada...

Then FINALLY something goes right. They start their 3rd string QB, and have a passing game for the first time all year.. They are up 38-3 with 9:00 left in the 3rd quarter, and FINALLY something is going right..

Then it all comes crashing down...

Not to mention they also hold the D-1 record for most consecutive losses..

Arguably the worst program in D-1 history...

and buffalo comes to newton highlands on saturday to play bc

as a 38 point underdog i dont really like their chances

bc??

6-1,beating clemson vtech and a decent byu team at home and beating florida state on the road which doesnt happen all that often in the acc

and still they get no respect nationally

why would they be ranked that far below clemson especially since they beat them??

that loss against nc state is looming larger and larger

but if they win out and they should

then they'll be playing for the acc championship game in atlanta come early december

sure the acc is down this year but seeing them go into tallahassee and physically handle the behemoth seminoles was a huge victory and these guys are very young

obrien recruits well

i dont like a lot of his moves but he does indeed recruit well

mustve been before the season started

fsu and va tech are having unusually bad years but this clemson club was supposed to be the s***

they are good

that saturday bc beat them was one of the best college games ive ever seen and the following week they went double ot to beat a very game byu team that has a great qb

and despite playing in a weaker conference

i feel that theyre a pretty good team and they ended tcu's nation longest winning streak

byu is undefeated in conference play

i think its the southern schools that hold bias against boston school and of course being the son of a legend would give clemson a boost in the coaches poll...

tonites a big game

they got va tech on the road

if clemson handles them i suspect they have a top 8*10 ranking come sunday nite

dont matter

bc has their own destiny in their hands

win out and play in a newyears game worth millions

lose a couple and they play on a blue field or in some obscure s*** hole backwater game in elpaso sanfrancisco or detroit.

bc should run the rack

Why is everyone acting like the Big East is getting the last laugh after everyone talked about how bad the conference was last year just because of tonights game? Sure, both teams are 7-0. But so far, Louisville's schedule is highlighted by a win at home against Miami (Not very difficult to do this year, considering Duke was within' 6 yards of beating them) and West Virginia's biggest win was... what, Maryland?

It's a huge game tonight. But certainly not because it's between two great teams. These teams would be toast in a Big Ten or SEC schedule or if they actually played anybody worth anything out of conference.

here is my predictions for the Big East:

West Virginia beats Louisville, but...

Rutgers beats West Virginia, but...

Louisville beats Rutgers

and nobody goes undefeated!

The University of Miami continues to have an unfortunate season....

Defensive lineman Bryan Pata was shot and killed in the parking lot of his off-campus apartment about 2 hours after the Hurricanes ended their practice.

Thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and anyone else who knew him. Sad, sad day for "The U."

Other rumors for you:

-Bob Stoops may be interested if the right NFL job comes open;

-Bill Cowher to NC State is looking more and more real...not from him, but from big-time bosters. They want to throw a lot of money at him and make it tough for him to say no.

-Don't know what's up with Michigan State, except that the Mariucci has reportedly taken himself out of running for "family reasons." So, here are the other top names: Pat Schurmur (Philly Eagles QB Coach), Bo Pelini (Defensive Coordinator at Louisiana State), Charlie Strong (Florida DC), Central Michigan coach Brian Kelly, and Todd Grantham (Cleveland Browns assistant).

-Brad Scott may go back to run FSU's offense. He was their OC once before and has been at Clemson.

-Bobby Ross (Army) and Fisher DeBerry (Air Force) may both retire.

-Lloyd Carr's job still not safe if they don't make and win the national title. A lot to be decided there in the next 2 months.

Also, OSU and Michigan are still #1 and #2 in the BCS Poll.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/BCSStandings

The Trojans, who beat Cal 23-9 on Saturday to lock up the Pac-10's automatic BCS bid, passed Michigan and moved up to No. 2 in both the coaches' poll and the Harris poll. The polls count for two-thirds of a team's BCS average. Michigan remained second in the computer ratings that account for the other third of the BCS average.

USC is third in the computers, a mark that should get a boost if the Trojans can knock off a highly rated Notre Dame team and crosstown rival UCLA the following week.

After seeing the game last night ... I think Mich, OSU, Arky and Florida are all in the same league. I guess it'll be fair to see any of the three play OSU in the BCS title game.

HAHAHAHAHAHA.

I love how becasue Cowher bought a new house everyone assumes he's going to coach close to it. Bill has more than enough money to have a few houses. The guy is gonna coach the Steelers or retire. He will never coach another team.

Uh yeah... so I already lost 3 bets...

I said USC was going to beat OSU in the National Championship game.

Lesson learned - always make sure the team you're betting on is actually in the game in the first place...

Posted
Damn. USC was so close. UCLA: the big spoilers this year. USC will be in the Rose Bowl against Michigan which will be an awesome game anyways. Whatever. Go Buckeyes!

So I'm sorry for bringing this thread back up, But um I didnt want to get yelled at for making another thread about college football.

But is anyone watching the BYU/Oregon game?

Posted

Oregon got drubbed.

I have a theory, since the players have input into Oregon's uniforms, apparently. Is it becoming a distraction? It's like the football program itself is worrying more about what they're wearing than who they're playing. All the attention on the uniforms, and all the input the players have, and how good and intimidating they probably think they look, I think it's realistic to believe that it's becoming a distraction to the team. Not a big one, but any distraction has an impact. Anyone buy into this at all?

Posted
Honestly, I think the bigger distraction is Nike and Phil Knight. He is the biggest U of O booster, and reportedly is pretty heavy handed in the athletic department there. The AD and coaches are so busy worrying about Phil and his $$$$$$, and so concerned with getting new facilities and unis from that $$$$$$, that they kiss his ass and let him meddle. The program suffers. Zero bowl wins since Joey. :thumbdown
