More and more I wish the Sox hadn’t given up on Josh Bard. The fact that Mirabelli seems to be the only catcher who can handle Wake’s knuckleball really restricts the Sox in this respect.

yea i know i mean we love doug Mirabelli but we did give too much and myself i twas hoping wake will retied soon and tke some backstage job with the sox i mean he a great clubhouse guy but his age is starting to hit him

one idea i had for a new catcher if the sox could land Daisuke Matsuzaka maybe they can get a catcher form JAPAN too like Ryoji Aikawa or Tomoya Satozaki

Thats a possibility. I can't stress enough the importance of adding an arm like Matsuzaka. The Red Sox need to get into the Japan market. Hideki Matsui, Ichiro Suzuki, and Tadahito Iguchi are very valuable pieces to there teams and the Red Sox need to find one. A pitcher would be of huge importance...especially with the talent of Matsuzaka.

As far as catchers: Jonathan Egan seems to hit exceptionally well for a 19 year old. If memory serves this is his first season in the Red Sox organization because of legal troubles last year. By the time Jason Varitek's contract is up he may be ready for the majors. If not then there are a few others that could possibly contribute. Then again there is also free agency.

Egan played in the GCL last year but did not fare as well. He or Mike Jones could be candidates for the GCL MVP.

I love belli, but i would have stuck with bard. What doesn't make sense is they keep talking about the youth movement and give up on bard so that wake does better this year. Belli can catch wake (which doesn't matter now) however he can't be an everyday catcher if tek went down--and that's what's happened....Sometimes the FO doens't make much sense

the worst part is quality catcher's are hard to come by. especially ones that can both catch a good game and be effective at the plate. at this point unless we get lucky with a free agent signing or trade we have to hope we can get even luckier by drafting a catcher with some talent and developing him.

Egan or Exposito

yeah, thats also what we used to believe about Andy Dominique and Kelly Shoppach and look how they turned out.

Dominique was a filler which means he was never a prospect and Shoppach doesn't have the offensive skills that Egan or Exposito bring. Egan is much more developed as a hitter than Exposito but I love exposito's raw power.

Tomoya Satozaki would be one i like to get he can both hit and catch and could be a everyday catcher if need

Stop second guessing mtbykr. You seemed to like when the sox originally got Beli Back

I liked bard, but couldn't be happier to see belli back in town. If Theo can also get rid of Seanez in this deal then he has just ascended to another level!

These post are almost the exact upposites you start off saying that you like Beli in the newer post and saying you like bard in older one. Then you praised the one that you didn't say that you like in the newer and older post. Then you ended the newer post bashing the sox FO while in the older one you were praising the Sox FO. The only thing that is the same in both of the post is that you like both of the guys.

This might just be nitpicking a little too much but my pet-peeve is second guessers and i especially hate it when people like the decision when it is first made and then bash it when it ends up going wrong.

you do know that 90% of the players you hype may never even make the major leagues.

probably not but I was pointing out the fact that dominique was never a prospect and the others ones are.

does george kottaras (acquired from the Pads) have much potential...i read somewhere he is one of their most highly regarded position prospects

He is a talented offensive catcher that is regarded as a patient hitter with a high OBP. He has potential to be a 15-20 homer guy.
