This team is like my kitchen currently: there are plenty of different ingredients, but none of them make anything useful.

 

flour? check

 

sugar? check

 

Chocolate chips? nope

 

Cereal? check

 

Milk? nope

 

Frozen juice? yup

 

Adequate container to make it in? nope

 

pancake mix? yup

 

eggs? nope

 

Syrup? nope

 

They are a hodgepodge team that WOULD have been adequate to (perhaps) make the playoffs if Trot, Wake, Gonzo, Tek and CLement had been healthy this whole time. Without them they are chocolate chip pancakes without eggs, syrup or a pan to cook them in. (sorry for the poor analogy, its late).

I like the analogy, but even if we had the ingredients, we lack a competent chef/manager to combine the ingedients and cook the meal.

Boomer hadn't thrown 100 pitchers. He was dealing beautifully. He should have come out for the 8th with Papelbon backing him up. Going to Timlin was just so ridiculous. He stayed with him after the HR-- that was bad enough, but then he stayed with him after the next guy got on. It was time to get him before he could throw away the game.

It's just displaced anger. People are upset that the Red Sox look worse than the Royals and they go beserk over punctuation. The anger should be directed at the FO and in particular Theo who ran this team into the ground. Also, Tito has cracked under the pressure and can no longer think straight during the game.

 

The more Coco plays the more he gets exposed as a terrible fielder with no arm at all. If the FO goes into next season with him as the CF and leadoff hitter, we will be in for even more disappointment.

I think you're the one who missed the memo that said this was supposed to be a retooling year. According to "feeding the monster" the entire FO knew that, if this team was going to succeed, they would need some overproduction, a lack of injuries, and some luck. They have lost on all 3 counts, but they were willing to take that chance to retain the players they have for the future.

 

We've discussed this before and the merits of waiting for the future when you have Ortiz and Manny is a seperate discussion. However, it is misleading to state that theo drove this team into the ground when, in fact, I would be that he would say things are going about as the FO (and all of basebball for that matter) would have bet at the beginning of the season.

 

Most "pundits" thought this team would finish behind toronto (which could still happen at this rate).

After next year though, the guy just needs to go. He's Charlie Brown. Lucy (Timlin, Millar, Krapler) has lined up the ball for him to kick it a million times. And, a million times, she's pulled it away at the last second leaving him ass over elbows, yet he gets none the wiser. The only way to protect this guy from himself is to ship away the crappy players he keeps using because they did something for him 2 years/months ago. A good manager recognizes effectiveness and goes with the hot hand, or away from the cold one. I haven't seen that from Tito. Thanks for 2004. Best of luck. But, good riddance.

I want to be optomistic, i really do---but this is getting just stupid. Our starting pitching has been doing great lately (ever since shill in the yanks series) and our offense and bullpen have crapped the bed. This game is squarely on Timlins head (and tito's for sending him out there--and then not having anyone ready when he expectedly crapped the bed) However we have scored 3 runs in 2 games against the M's---come on guys:rolleyes:
