How many extras is that? I'd like to see Pauley, Lopez, Van Buren and Pedroia. Maybe Choi, but I heard we cut him loose... am I correct in that?

on sept 1 when the sox go to 40 men roster what players sould get the call??

David Murphy

Alejandro Machado

Adam Stern maybe

Jeff Bailey

Dustin Pedroia maybe but they might not want to use a 40 man spot on him until after the year

Harris, Pedoia, Ginter, Gabbard, DiNardo, Ellsbury to name a few. I think Ellsbury comes up to be a late inning D replacement for Pena and a pinch runner.

Jackson the sox likely will not waste a 40 man roster spot on Ellsbury when they don't have to. He's very talented and as I said earlier he is likely to be ready by mid to late 2007. Murphy will be the outfielder they call up if he is healthy since he has been hurt. Ellsbury does not have to be on the 40 man until after the 2007 season per MLB rules.

I am just saying that his tools are more worthwhile in a sub role because of his speed. Plus, it isnt like they have to worry about him missing minor league time, his season will be over.

I am in total agreement with you on his tools especially his speed which is very good. I just think that when he is likely not going to play in Boston until likely late in 2007 why waste the roster spot when you are not forced to put him on the 40 man roster.

infield

Jeff Bailey

outfield

Ron Calloway

Calloway is not coming up and neither is Bailey with Carlos Pena having a clause in his deal to be called up in september.

C-Bailey

1B-Pena

INF-Pedroia, Machado

OF-Murphy, Stern

P-Lopez, Van Buren, DiNardo, Ginter, Breslow, Alvarez, Pauley

Maybe Chris Smith and Brad Baker

No need for another catcher and besides if it is another catcher it will be huckaby over bailey.

Also no need to call up Abe Alvarez

-- He sucks as a pitcher, no need for Sox to waste a roster spot on him even in Pawtucket

-- He's on the DL for the remainder of the year, fractured ankle

No need to call up a catcher as they will already have 3 next month with Tek, Dougie & Javy

Matt Ginter has long since been released from pawtucket, a clause in his contract allowed him to elect free agency if he wasnt called up by a certain date

Red Sox have known to be stichler's (spelling correct?) on September call-ups. On Sep 1. I can see them adding Pena, Murphy, Van Buren, Breslow, DiNardo

i definitely think Pauley should be in Boston. I would like to see him get a few starts, he could be a part of the pitching rotation unless we make some big offseason acquisitions. He actually has been the best of all the options we have tried to fill it in. I think we need to prepare him to be with the big club for at least part of next year.

He is on the DL with a forearm strain. He is not coming up September 1st.
