Manny had to go back towards second to make sure the liner went through. He was just hitting 3rd as the ball came back into the IF. Never should have sent him. He was out by a lot.

They showed a replay on NESN and it looked like Manny was going full bore. Keep in mind he had to hold to make sure the line drive got through AND he's running on bad knees.

He might have slowed for one or two steps until he saw the third base coach windmilling. If he ran hard for those two steps, he would've been out by 3 feet instead of 6. Coach tried to steal a run and got burned.
