Wait for it, wait for it. I bet we landed Ensberg, Berkman, Clemens and Oswalt for Lester, Hansen, Lowell and Coco!

/sarcasm

But seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if we were COMPELTELY misguided and something huge went down behind the scenes.

Where does Lugo play in LA, ya think? Do you think he plays second, Kent moves to third, and Betemit is a role player?

Also, is Mueller out for the year?

...this wouldn;t have happened if Lugo accepted the Rays extension proposal for 4 years at $8 Mil a yeal. He wanted $10 mil. Ridiculous. This just happened like a week and a half ago, too.

I guess the Dodgers are going to hope that Garciaparra plays first, Lugo plays second, Furcal at SS, and Kent at third. It also could be, Kent to 1st, and Betemit to third. I don't know how long Garciaparra will be out for.

OT, anyone think the Dodgers, not the Yankees, were the big winners at the dealine this year?

They were winners, but they probably overpaid for Lugo.

The Yankees didn't give up anything for Abreu, Lidle, and Wilson.

I can understand this line of thinking, but other than Abreu I'm not sold on how those players will be a significant upgrade.

Lidle's inconsistent, Wilson doesn't really have a position right now.

I completely forgot that NOmar was placed on the DL yesterday. Good point. I would have to think they would go with the latter, Kent at first, Lugo at second, Furcal at Short, and betemit at 3rd.

Definately. The Dodgers and Rangers were the big winners this week, IMO (with the Yankees, too.). The Rangers, while they only made one high profile trade, did make enormous efforts to improve their team. While I doubt Kip Wells helps them out at all, Matt Stairs should definately help.

Abreu > Cabrera

Wilson > Williams/Crosby/Guiel

Eh, I don't really like Lidle. He's going to be a 5.00 ERA + in the AL. You got to go back to 2002 to see his last good season. I don't see how moving to Yankee Stadium is going to help him. He's got a penchant to surrender bombs against lefthanded hitters. That 313 FT porch should look awfully shallow. He's got decent control, but he's allowed more hits then IP this year. Now you're asking him to move to the AL East? Good luck.

Basically, the Yankees improved their offense, but did little to improve the pitching staff. By little, I mean nothing.

Wilson's decent. I dunno if it's a significant improvement though.

And I agree on Lidle.

I was about to post a long paragraph on how Lidle is much better then Ponson who was our 5th starter then I realized that my dead great grandfather is better then him so whats the point really.

Lidle is better then Ponson, but he isn't the savior that Woody Paige is claiming he is. Or Brian Cashman

I'm looking for innings from him. Hes was solid when he was with Oakland but that was awhile ago. Maybe we catch lightning in a bottle who knows.

BTW Did you catch the interview with Cashman on WFAN?

Yeah. Easily the funniest thing I've ever heard.

I must say I really enjoyed that. Its not the first time they have gotten into a shouting match. I remember last year Mike screaming at Cashman because they were trying to replace Bernie.

Do you know where you can find the whole interview? I only caught the tail end, where Cashman was screaming, "LOOK AT HIS SPLITS!"
