Mariners basically got the Guardians' planned platoon of Perez & Broussard

 

Mariners acquired first baseman Ben Broussard and cash from the Guardians for outfielder Shin-Soo Choo and a player to be named.

The cash likely covers a portion of the remainder of Broussard's $2,487,500 salary. The 28-year-old will be eligible for arbitation again over the winter, at which time the Mariners can decide whether to go forward with him as their designated hitter. Broussard, who was hitting .322/.363/.523 in 264 at-bats, will resume platooning with Eduardo Perez, this time at DH. His fantasy value won't change much. Although he'll be batting in a weaker lineup now, he's going to a better ballpark for left-handed power hitters.
