Apparently ESPN Radio has reported that the Mets have traded Aaron Heilman to the Mariners for Gil Meche.

No links yet, but if this is true, I think it's a steal for the Mariners.

Wow, that's nuts. Heilman was almost untouchable during the winter after his good, breakout year last year. I think having a shot in the rotation in Seattle will be good for him. As for Meche, I'm conflicted regarding this one. While we add a marginally good starter to the rotation, we are losing one of our more solid relievers; or at least potentially one of our more solid relievers. Hasn't really had a good year.

Waiting to hear confirmation.

Meche has had a real good year, and makes the Mets better now, IMO. Guys like Soler aren't going to get it done.

A few years from now I think this is going to be a steal for the Mariners, though.

you can't be a fan of 2 teams in the same city

Umm...I can, and I am. The Yankees always come first to me, but there is nothing wrong with rooting for the Mets too considering they represent my hometown. I'm too proud of where I come from to not support a team that represents New York.

..isn't this like the second time we're having this discussion?

Totally agree. Meche, who has been pretty decent/good in Seattle will definately make the Mets a beter team now, as moving over to the NL should definately help him out a little. I'm just a bit disappointed to be losing Heilman, because like you said, this probably will be a steal for the M's when all is said and done.

I am just curious how many Yankee fans on these boards are also Mets fans. Can someone post a pole? I live in NY, and the people that tell me they root for both the Yankees and the Mets usually know nothing about baseball and never watch a game.

26, do you also root for the Rangers and the Islanders?
