All from the Boston Globe:

-The Red Sox are the only team without a shutout in 2006. Their last shutout was 141 games ago, July 23, 2005, against the White Sox in Chicago (Wade Miller beat Orlando Hernandez, 3-0). Every other major league team has at least two shutouts in 2006.

-Opponents’ starting pitchers have combined for a 7.05 ERA at Fenway Park this season. They have a 4.36 ERA against Boston away from Fenway. Boston’s starting pitchers have a 3.90 ERA at Fenway Park, 5.57 on the road.

-The Red Sox are 41-5 when their starting pitcher lasts longer than his opponent.

-The Red Sox have the best record in the major leagues when their starter lasts six or more innings (40-14). yeszir says this is probably because Seanez or Tavarez don't pitch in these games

-The Red Sox are the only team in the major leagues that has not lost a game when scoring seven or more runs (30-0). But no lead is Seanez proof.

-The Red Sox are 40-19 when righthanded pitchers start against them (second only to Detroit — 37-15). They are 13-14 when lefthanders start against them.

-Opponents are batting only .200 against Boston with two outs and runners in scoring position (Papelbon .053, Timlin .071, Tavarez .130, Wakefield .137, Lester .143, Beckett .156).

-Manny Ramírez is batting .378 with two outs and runners in scoring position, .231 with fewer than two outs.

Im expecting Schilling and Beckett to throw a shut out real soon

Its referencing any shutout, the starting pitcher going all 9 or the starter combining with relievers to shut out an opponent. The Red Sox are more than due to have one

isnt Beckett really good after the all star break ?

That would be correct, he just has to somehow fix the location problems that has made his ERA & HRs go up considerably.

Career in September

23 games, 11-4 record with a 2.48 ERA (7 Hrs, 136 Ks in 130.2 innings)

This is one of the facts that became really clear when the Sox were on the road in Florida (Marlins & D-Rays). Maybe with WMP returning he can add some offense that's been lacking against lefties. I'm concerned how the Sox would hold up against a predominantly left handed rotation in a postseason situation.

Francona won't let either Schilling or Beckett throw a shutout because he doesn't want to add the extra workload. He knows the closer and setup men are good enought to finish off any game.

The only player I think can have a complete game shutout is Tim Wakefield....because he doesn't get nearly as tired throwing 65-70mph.

Such as the Tigers (Rogers, Robertson, Maroth)
