Gagne might require back surgery

 

Eric Gagne might require back surgery after an examination Thursday showed two herniated discs in his back.

 

"He was given a nerve block and an epidural injection, and they're going to re-evaluate him tomorrow," trainer Stan Johnston. If the injections work, Gagne will probably avoid surgery, though doing so in any sort of effort to salvage his season would seem sort of pointless right now.
