Boston Globe reporter Chris Snow has been hired to become the president of hockey operations for the Minnesota Wild.

I found it very interesting that a professional sports team would hire a member of the media to run their team. Very unorthodox maneuver. I thought he did a great job covering the Sox for the Globe and I wish him all the best in running the Wild.

Too bad for us because he is a good writer and I’ve enjoyed his work immensely. Too bad for the Globe because talented young, local writers like him with a promising future don’t come around very often.

You gotta give the guy props. Only 24 and he’s already moved from a beat writer of one of the best newspapers in the country to a big position in hockey. I’m not sure of his credentials as far as hockey goes, but I’m sure he’ll do well.
