Ok, well I'm pretty set about now that the Pats'll take it, thats a given, but what about the rest?

Now the Jets were down right terrible last year, and although we patched up our O-Line the best we possibly could, we lost a lot of heart in Mawea, and skills in Law. Pennington won't be '02 Pennington ever again, but I feel he can be 04' Pennington, maybe. But to be safe, we got Ramsey and then one of the best 2nd rounders in Kellen Clemens. So I'm praying I won't have to worry about QB as much. Right now, the biggest question mark is RB. Curts' great, but hes old and hurt, and I'm not sure if Houston is ready for the lead if need be, though i think he is goos enough for the job.

I haven't really followed the Bills and Dolphins as much as I did for the Jets and the Pats, so my question is what are your thoughts of the division right now? I think if the jets can stay healthy, then they can win 7-9 games, maybe a 2nd??, but if they get banged up like last year then 2-5.....and last in the world.

Dolphins > Patriots.

Agreed. Daunte is the biggest offseason acquisition, IMO. He and Ronnie Brown will turn that offense around, and the defense is still solid.

only if daunte is fully healthy.....he suffered a pretty bad knee injury.

He'll be back for the first game of the season. He's already way ahead of his rehab schedule.

i am not sure i think the dolphins might get us. this team have improved now with a creditable QB w/ a good defence which they already had and we have lost some valuable players(vinniterri, mcginest).but i think the patriots will get the wild card.

I got the Patriots missing out. With the Chiefs and Steelers taking the Wild Card.

Though, my team isn't looking too good. Why the hell does the schedule maker have the Bucs playing three AFC North teams in December? All on the road I might add.

I'll be happy with a 9-7 record, and TO breaking his ankle week one. Sorry for the rant.

Back on topic, Patriots finish 8-8 or 9-7, no playoffs.

Chiefs defense is not good enough to make the playoffs and they don't have any receivers outside of gonzalez at TE.....I also want to see if Big Ben is fully healthy....if he misses any time the steelers could struggle.....with the pats easy schedule I find it laughable how you can say they will be either 8-8 or 9-7.

How is it laughable? The Patriots defense is below average. Besides, what is an easy schedule in the NFL?

The Chiefs defense may just be average, though I do like the additions of Tamba Hali, and Polliard, their offense will simply murder everything. The Chiefs don't have recievers? Didn't stop Trent Green for throwing for over 4,000 yards. Oh, and the best RB in the NFL resides in KC.

Herm will find a way to lose games like usual.......the pats play the easy NFC north...the bears and lions are both at home while they will play at GB and at Minnesota 2 teams I don't think scare anyone. the bills and jets are both mediocre teams. They have denver in NE this year. Indy at home. and they play in cincy and who knows how healthy carson palmer is.....I really think your selling the pats short.

Actually, he isnt. Even though we still got Belichick and Brady, I'm not confident in this team going into the season. The defense is markedly worse, and the running AND recieving game is in the air.

The pats lost 1 guy on defense in McGinest.....the running game should be better with Dillon healthy and Maroney here as well. The receiving corps is shaky. And with Ty Law who could be back that will only strengthen the defense. there is no way this team finishes 8-8 or 9-7 with the schedule they have.

Yeah, a lot of peope think we ahd major losses in MicGinnest and Givens, but what we lostw e gained back in jackson and Harrison coming back at SS. Colvin and Vrabel will keep us solid at LB with Bruschi coming back for a full-season, and our running game will be a hel of a lot betetr with a healthy Dillon and big play making Maroney back there. Our big defensive problem alst eyar was our secondary, and they received a big boost wih harrison back there.

What? I'm sure you meant the same Herm Edwards who helped built the monster Buccaneer defense, or the Edwards who brought them to the playoffs all those years.

I'm not selling the Pats short, you're just overrating them.

How'd Herm do with the Jets? Could he ever beat NE when it counted. The Chiefs haven't won a playoff game since 1993. Until they win in the playoffs I won't take them seriously.

Herm had no team with the Jets. Pennington is a pussy, he cant throw, and when he's healthy he has no arm strength. He had a solid back in Martin, but other than that he didnt really have many playmakers on the offensive side of the ball after Santana Moss left. Theyve got Coles back now, but he's been going downhill since he was traded after the 2002 season. They also didnt really have much defense to speak of. I believe they made the playoffs 3 times under Edwards, so I'd say given the team and situation he did a very solid job of coaching that team.

Edit: Outside of Martin and Coles/Moss, for the years Herm coached them, those were basically the only offensive threats.

I think Edwards did as much can be expected with a china-doll QB while with the Jets. He's a good kicker away from playing in the AFC Championship game 2 years ago. Nobody could beat NE when it counted most of the time the last 5 years. Hard to fault him there. And, he has nothing to do with KC's previous post-season struggles, so that point is irrelevant.

I don't understand why some people think it's out of the question for the Patriots to miss the playoffs. Some people are acting like just because we've won 3 out of the last 5 super bowls we're invincible. That's not true. Sure, we have the greatest minds in the game, arguable the best quarterback in the game, and a still solid defense with Harrison coming back and our injuries subsiding, but if last year is any indication of how this team is going to perform this year, it's not out of the question. The Dolphins are back to being threats in the AL East, although at this point I will still take the Pats atop the East, with the Dolphins close behind, then the Jets and Bills. I'm just not sold on Culpepper yet. We all saw how he began the '05 season without Moss. He'll have Chambers, but Chambers isn't Moss by a long shot. He has a lot more to live up to before he can be seen as a big difference maker. Sure, he'll be MUCH better than Frerotte but he could also be a huge flop going from the NFC North to the AFC East.

Bottom line is, the AFC East will be a lot more competitive this year than during the Pats' domination years.
