correct.. Riske is a choke and gagger when it comes to performing in a tight game.

He hasn't gotten the oppurtunity to prove himself this year, Tavarez has time and time again and shat the bed.

I really think MDC should have been used for the 12th, but Riske is a better option than Tavarez.

Given a save chance in a one-run game, Julian Tavarez gave up four runs to take the loss Tuesday against the Twins.

With left-handed hitters Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau due up, Tavarez was probably the worst choice remaining in the Boston pen to start the 12th inning tonight. Manager Terry Francona played it right until then. Unfortunately, he didn't feel he could put Mike Timlin, who was in his first game back from the DL, out for a second inning following a perfect 11th. Jonathan Papelbon pitched scoreless ninth and 10th innings after taking over for Curt Schilling. Jun. 14 - 12:26 am et

i love how rotoworld hates francona so much. After every game the Sox lose, they blame him for something.

Everyone agrees that Tavarez should have pitched, but its Tavarez's job to get out of that inning.

I also noticed the Rotoworld comments about Coco and thought they were a bit "harsh" on Francona:

Coco Crisp went 0-for-6 against the Twins on Tuesday, leaving seven men on in the process.

The worst was when he grounded into an inning-ending double play with two on in a tie game in the eighth. Crisp doesn't get on base like a leadoff hitter, doesn't take pitches like a leadoff hitter and doesn't steal bases like a leadoff hitter. That he's getting more at-bats than anyone else in Boston's lineup is just bad baseball.

I do have to agree with this point however.

ya i was thinking the same thing to. They need to put Coco in the 9th spot untill he starts hitting again.

If he could get on in the 9th spot, wed have some speed on base with Youk, Loretta, Papi and Manny up.

Gonzo is hitting .278 with an obp of .312 during May/June so i'd be fine with him hitting 8th.

Crisp is hitting .264 with an obp of .295 since returning from the DL
