Wow, this guy's a stud. Can anyone think of a better sinker than his? It's fun to watch those batters get frustrated by the worm killers.

Webb for Cy Young 2006.

Posted

8-0 with an era of 2.18 and whip of 1.08

he would be a perfect fit for the Sox. Hes young, a sinker ball pitcher (151 GO/40 AO) who gets about 7 K's a game. Anyone know when he's contract is up?

damnit, hes not a FA till 2009

Arizona would want too much for him. He's amazing, and he came up through the farm here so he's well liked.

I called it!

Well, enough gloating. I, along with a lot of people, called the fact that Webb was going to have a Cy Young season this year. Hopefully he can keep it up, it's always exciting to see a young guy do so well.

He is carrying my fantasy team. 2 CG SHO in a row!? Cy young indeed.

He is also carrying my fantasy team and will be getting a 4 yr contract for my team after this season with the way he is pitching

my good friend has been a dbacks fan since the inception of the franchise, and he is obsessed with brandon webb. it really seems like this kid is already on his way to something special....

that would be awesome. webb, beckett... oohlala

*end fantasy*

webb has been on his way to something special for years now.. if he played on the yankees or sox he would have been called the next kevin brown without all the bs.

Yea...I traded Webb at the begining of the season...Got Peavy for him...s***

not really. peavy is still the pitcher i'de want for the rest of the season. pretty even trade so far and it would be heavily in your favor if peavy started to get some run support.

it all depends on the kind of format your league has.

cy young ? i wouldnt say so . if it was the end of the season today id say pedro right now

webb 8-0 2.01ERA 89IP 84H 20ER 10BB 58K K/9 5.82 K/BB 5.8 OPP BA 255 1.05 WHIP

pedro 5-1 2.51ERA 75.2IP 44H 21ER 17BB 88K K/9 10.47 K/BB 5.19 OPP BA 167 0.81WHIP

pedro leads the major in WHIP , OPP BA and K/9 , if pedro had the run support that webb has he would be 10-1

but of corse when it comes to cy young they always seem to look at the win loss column

besides ERA, pedro's stats so far this year are verry close to what he did in that remarkable 2000 season beleive it or not ,but of corse alot off games to played so we will see if he can keep it up , and so far if you look at his games he is getting better and better each one eventough he has all those no descision , his ERA in may 2.14 but yet no wins

looking at the numbers right now brandon webb would win the cy young by a margin of 5:3... basically it wouldn't be close.

it's more like a deadlock but those idiots that vote for the terrible award really don't know anything about baseball. if you win more than 20 games you're a lock to be in the cy young hunt, even if your era is 7. i would not be surprised if i saw a 25 game winner with a 5 era before my life is over. the writers are all morons.

I'm not sure if you are hating on Webb, rsr, but it sounds like it. Webb has a lower ERA. And he is known for ground outs, not strike outs. That's why Pedro has a much better K/9. He will give up more hits than Pedro, no doubt about that because groundballs don't automatically mean they are right at the fielders. I hope he does lower his BAA a bit, though.

Give credit where it's due. But I agree with you, Pedro does deserve the Cy Young Award right now but to say that Webb is only a candidate because he has more wins is pathetic.

not hating on no one just pointing out that pitchers with the most wins gets more consideration than anyone else , like last year bartolo colon? WTF was that and i could name many more

Well, it's not like Webb needs that much run support right now (unlike Russ Ortiz of 2003). He has an ERA of just above 2.

by a few sports writter as it stands right now they have webb winning it and aroyo second , wtf aroyo second? the only thing he has better than pedro is .10 on the ERA

Anyone who thinks Arroyo, or the Reds, are going to keep this up for the rest of the season is a jackass. Like I said before I'd be suprised if the Reds finish 3rd in their division, and I'd be completely shocked if Bronson is even in the same state as the conversation about the Cy Young award.

not so sure

houston has responded to the clemens signing by losing 4 in a row

(atta boy raja,way to inspire)

the cards are now without albert in a can and remember, karen""rainy days and mondays get me down"" carpenter won a cy last season and he was cut by toronto

arroyo got a rubber arm,is absolutley fearless out there and he pitches against the worst league in baseball

cinci winning that division would suprise me but lets face it

the cards suck as usual milwaukee chicago and houston are frauds too....

its the national league or the B league if you will

arroyo going 22-5 with an era of 2.50 is very possible and dont look now but here comes derek lowe too...

Exactly why Bronson has no chance to win it. The Reds are cooling off and he'll get less and less wins as the season progresses.

The Cards could be without Pujols for the rest of the year and they're still head and shoulders better than the Reds. The Cards suck? They have the 2nd most wins in baseball.

If Bronson finishes the season with an ERA under 3 I'll have the Yankee logo tattooed on my ass.
