Ok, IMO, there are three kinds of voters (fans):

a) You are a complete homer and will vote for every starter from your team though some/most of them are scrubs.

B) Be like a 12-year-old. Vote for just the famous players.

c) Wait for the right time to vote for the players that truly deserve to be in the ASG.

So what kind of a voter are you? Me: C (though I admit I used to be A and B. :))

C: But I also take into account their performance since the prior All Star Game too.

I hate it when players have a fantastic 1st half (e.g. Matt Clement), make the team, then drop from star to also ran. If, like football, the game was at the end of the season, they wouldn't have made the team at all.

All Star voting stinks. How else do players who have been on the DL all year long (a la Nomar a few years back) get in, and lead all other SS.

They shouldnt let the fans completly decide. Since All Star games are a indicator when players go up for the hall.

I want to see Mark Bellhorn strikeout in the home run derby. I don't think its ever been done.

Then I want the pitcher in the home run derby to hit Barry Bonds.

I want the pitcher in the home run derby to pitch around Albert Pujols.

....and David Ortiz to win

All I want is Loretta to start over A-Rod, it's never going to happen because the casual fan is going to look at the ballot see A-Rods name and just check it witout knowing that Lowell has been doing better this season.

This voting system sucks, the players and amnages should decide the starters.

They don't play the same position...I'm gonna assume you mean Lowell.

In which case, I agree.

Just heard on WEEI that Tek, Manny, and Papi lead in their respective positions in the voting so far, but it's still very early.

It really is a joke. Alex Rios, Vernon Wells, and Manny should be the top 3 outfielders right now. I guess it's not the fans' fault though when Rios is forced to be a write-in. He definitely deserves a spot though. I guess from that list, it should be Manny, Vernon Wells, and Vlad or Jonny Gomes. I actually don't know how Vlad's doing this year, haven't really been keeping track. But I'm assuming he's done well enough to deserve a starting spot in the All Star Game. Pierzynski is FIFTH? That's a joke. He should be the leading vote receiver for catchers. I don't have a problem with 1B, 2B, SS (except for A-Gone being 4th in the voting), and some of the OF. The C is a joke, the 3B should be Lowell (right now at least), and the OF should have Rios and Wells with Manny at the top. All I can say is thank God that the fans don't choose the pitching either. They'd probably vote Mo in over Papelbon at this point. Granted, Mo is unbelievable, this season Papelbon deserves it. Case closed.

Holy Jesus! The whole Starting Lineup is pretty much Yankees/Red Sox for the AL! This is as big of a joke as NBA All-Star voting, so far.

No love for Jermaine Dye? He's currently hitting at a .298/.402/.638/1.041 clip. That's tied for highest in the AL, with Alexis Rios. Also, Nick Swisher's not doing too bad. His OPS is at 1.038, good enough for second place in the AL.

In parts, I'm going to leave off two of SOTK's All-Star outfied, and go with,

LF: Nick Swisher

CF: Alexis Rios

RF: Jermaine Dye

As for the rest of the team:

C: Joe Mauer/Jorge Posada

1B: Jim Thome/Travis Hafner

2B: Mark Loretta/Jose Lopez

SS: Miguel Tejada/Derek Jeter

3B: Alex Rodriguez/Mike Lowell

OF: Manny Ramirez/Vernon Wells/Vlad Guerrero/Gomes? (reserves)

Drawback. Got to find a way to squeeze a Royal on this roster. Grudzielanek? He's the only one worth. They do have Joe Nelson, who has an ERA of 0.96 this year. Granted, it's only 9.1 IP, but he might have to do.
