this is related to the sox. The Yankees wont be giving games away on a silver platter anymore...

No the Red Sox will just win them outright instead

wow, the yankees are falling apart

Sturtze leaving the roster is great for us. I mean the loss of Matsui and Sheff are the Yankees 'falling apart,' this is the Yankees coming together.

Erickson is being called up. I'm not sure whats worse...

Why??? I'm thrilled about Sturtze coming back and everything, but Erickson doesnt make much sense to me. We should have called up Matt Smith or DeSalvo or someone like that. Even Karstens would be good. s***, i'd refer Mendoza, even. IDK how Erickson is doing down there, but by bringing him up, we would have to DFA him when Pavano/Sturtze comes back and we would likely lose him.

IDK, whatever though.

Honestly, now that I think about it, this might just be a ploy for Torre to be able to keep Sturtze in the organization. DL him for a bit (that way we dont have to DFA him when Pavano comes back), let him pitch some extended Spring games, then start the 30 day rehab clock, and then call him back up when somebody else goes down. It's a Torre conspiracy!!

I think you are onto something. Sturtze was throwing 94 today, so his shoulder couldnt have been hurtin him too badly. Erickson has a 4+ ERA and a 11/11 K/BB ratio in 20+ innings. I think we are bringing him up to see if we can catch lightning in a bottle. If we cannot, then we DFA him. I would have rather brought up Mendoza, Bean, or Corey but then we would be DFAing them when our guys return....

We could have brought up Bean. He still has options. And I wouldnt be surprised if Mendoza could make it through waivers. Same with Erickson, unless he does a real goo djob I wouldnt be surprised to see him back in Columbus, however i'm not counting on it, he'll likely be claimed.

You are too funny.

Better pitching? Since when is a 4.56 ERA (Boston) better than 3.79 (NY)?

It seems you would know something about being delusional.

this will make Riv happy

Yankees manager Joe Torre said that, barring some good news for Dr. James Andrews, Tanyon Sturtze likely would miss the rest of the season with a shoulder injury.

The Yankees revealed earlier in the day that Sturtze has a small tear in the rotator cuff and bursitis in his right shoulder. It sounds like surgery is the plan, unless Andrews has a better idea. May. 15 - 11:47 pm et
