Crosby is supposed to be in right today (as per the NY Daily News), so the defense should be ok.

I think anything less than a sweep for the Yankees would be a disappointment. The Yankees are playing better in nearly every aspect thus far and need to capitalize on this opportunity.

Man, you really don't get the point. I find it hard to believe you are actually going to be a doctor. Scary thought.

With a career .100 IsoP, he never had any power to begin with. He's line-drive hitter. Some will hit the gap for doubles, but most will end up being singles. Whether he's a .060 or a .120 IsoP hitter will be determined by how many find the gap. Frankly, I'm encouraged by the way he's hit the ball. Given time, those LDs will start finding holes and he'll move runners over and get on for Papi and Manny. And that is all I want out of him at the #2 hole.

He never had power to begin with, well if that is the case then he has even less power now. His IsoP stat that you love has him dropping 33%. Seriously, leave my profession out of the baseball conversation. I'm not bringing up your job and I'm not comparing professions. This is baseball....

You are right, cheap shot on my part. I apologize.

His IsoP is down 33% if last year's rates hold up, but that isn't likely to happen given the batted ball types he's put into play this year. Right now he's a couple of doubles away from matching his career IsoP, and he's hitting a high percentage of line-drives. XBH's come primarily from LDs. He's hit more than a few right at outfielders. When those find a gap, the rates will return. I'd agree he is done if he was just dinking the ball around the field, but he isn't, and his batted ball stats agree with me.

Ummm, you need to take a look in the mirror...you take SO MANY cheap shots on this board its worthy of vomiting. I'm not advocating being a cheap shot artist, but you really need to re-evalute yourself before you get all defensive over ONE thrown at you. :thumbdown

There's no excuse, the Yankees shouldn't be losing to a team like the Red Sox the way they are playing. Inconsistency has been the name of the game for the Bombers thus far, but they still should not be losing games like this.

What was up with the wind yesterday? Giambi and Jeter smoked balls that only got to the warning track. Ortiz goes out to dead center. It was very weird.

The Yankees lost, because the pitching matchup was tilted slighty to the Red Sox. It's highly likely that the Yankees would have been absolutely destroyed tonight. Josh Beckett vs Shawn Chacon isn't a matchup I'd feel comfortable with.

The wind was blowing in the same MPH in the 1st, as it was in the 8th. Ortiz, just hit his farther, I guess.

Yeah, when those two and Mirabelli's and Pena's all came up short I said to myself, nothing is getting out tonight. Manny put charge into one right after Ortiz finally beat the wind also. Ortiz' ball must have been completely destroyed.

EDIT: Hittrackeronline.com lists it's true distance at 395 ft, with an estimated distance of 460 ft (-54 wind impact, -12 temperature impact).

whoah, according to this stat tracker: Last night the wind was blowing 16 mph toward the infield, if the wind was instead 16 mph towards centerfield... Ortiz's wouldve sailed 509 feet
