Here is a spark for Debate, Would the Sox have been better off keeping Mirabelli, and Graff. Graff is a solid second basemen, and Wake was comfortable with Dougie. Even if Lorreta returns to form, really how much better could he do than 310. with like 7 jacks and 35 rbis in half a season

Graffanino had a career year last year. He was likely not not repeat the .310 he put up. He is a career .268 hitter for his career.

Here's the deal man. Graf LOVED Boston, f***ing loved it. When you get guys who love where they play, they get comfortable and they get consistent. I think Graf would have had a similar type of yr....

So his ground outs today would have been hits if they were in the holes? You can say that about anybody....

No, but the shot down the 3B line in the 1st that Burroughs had to make a diving play for was well hit.

btw, that popup would have been a triple if Travis Lee fell down and the ball were hit about 11 feet further...

I didn't say every AB, but if you want to get smart fine....

he had 481 ABs last yr. I think that is enough to make a determination...

And Schilling pitched around 100 "healthy enough to make a determination" innings last year, which lead to your doom and gloom predictions about him. The fact that you consider time played while hurt as meaningful is funny in and of itself. The fact that you are a medical student makes it outright hilarious.

EDIT: Sorry, not time played while hurt, but time played as part of recovery.

For the most part, hitters don't need a huge rehab. Also, the fact that I am a med student shouldnt play into it. The fact is, Loretta has shown nothing to disprove the suggestion that he has lost his power. You cannot dispute that....

Throw 20 million at Clemens tonight

Definately, and stick Papelbon into the rotation also. With the way things are going, he may not get another save opportunity for awhile.

Graffanino been pretty much the same as he was pre-2005, currently batting (.207) in his first 9 games of the season, 6 for 26

What power? His career IsoP is .100. He's at .080 right now. Big dropoff!!

Hitters don't need a huge rehab, but Loretta had the same injury before and came back from it. How long did it take for him to come back? Approximately the same amount of ABs he had post-injury last year.

Dude's hitting the ball well. It will start finding holes.

wow those strikes to tek on 3-0 and 3-1 were ankle high---tough to hit when they are calling those stikes!

The ironic thing about that sequence was that the 2-0 and 3-0 pitches were in the exact same location but the call was different for each one, and as I type this the Sox strand two more men on base, both in scoring position.

When the Sox traded for Loretta they weren't looking for power.

This is horrible, I know people say pitching and D wins championships, but you need offense too.

2005-ChiSox-good O

2004-Redsox-great Offense

2003 Marlins-Mostly pitching but they had a good lineup

2002-angles-solid lineup with good power

2001-D-backs they had 60 Hrs from Gonzo plus Mark Grace and Matt Williams

1998-2000- we know how great the Yankees Lineup was

Pitching and D does win championships though. The White Sox starting pitching was tremendous in last years postseason with those consecutive complete games.
