I was actually watching when he made these comments; my jaw nearly hit the ground, I couldn't believe he was actually saying what he was.

First he attacked women in a dugout, today he just said "There are some, gimme the word, Rednecks out there Umpiring with a short fuse."

Someone needs to put a sock in him before he starts on Gays, Asians in the Game, and non-Seinfeld fans

I miss the days when announcers could be colorful without worrying about being PC. Announcing has become too sterile. Maybe someday we will be listening to computer generated announcing voices. Wouldn't that be fun.

Well this is old, but I don't have any problems with his comments. First of all she was breaking rules being in the dugout in uniform. After this happened he read the rules for who is allowed to be in the dugout in uniform, and she was not.

People in this country really need to grow up, and I'm not talking about Keith.

We have become a country of thin-skinned wimps. It's sickening.

Exactly, and if you're not on satellite radio there is no such thing as free speech in this country anymore.

Actually she was allowed in by the MLB & the San Diego Padres

But a Major League Baseball memo previously sent to all clubs said that in addition to the two trainers, one member of the conditioning staff was permitted in the dugout during games. After Hernandez's remarks, MLB called the Padres and verified that, indeed, Calabrese was allowed.

I disagree, color-commentating isnt about making controversial statements, or cracking jokes, but just to point out certain things the normal fan wouldn't notice, like mechanics, or analyzing a strikeout, or approach at the plate. If you stick to that, there will be no need to worry about being PC.

You can get a computer generated voice to do that. Some of the best listens in Sports told interesting and colrful stories. Vin Scully is like a solo artist the way he weaves his stories into the game. Harry Caray was hoot as was Dizzy Dean. For all the criticism he receives on these boards, Hawk Harrelson adds color to the game that goes beyond analyzing the plays.

If you're talking about me, I take offense. I said he may take on non-Seinfeld fans. I agree there's bad (wouldn't say Redneck) Umpires, and Uniform? She was in a Uniform? I didn't see that, but if she's an assistant trainer, she has every right to be there.

He also is mistakenly believed to have spit on both Kramer AND Newman, although it is later found out that he is not, in fact, the culprit.

I would agree in principle if not for the misogynistic 'ewww, women in sports' attitude he had.

Theres a difference between free speech and trying to bring back the 1880's.
