Will Gonzo be starting at short for the Red Sox come August?

Gonzalez will give you 10 hr, .245 ba, .290 obp, 5 sb .975 fielding percentage

 

Izturis will give you 3 hr, .270 ba, .300 obp, 20 sb, .980 fielding percentage

 

Izturis is an upgrade over Gonzalez. Hes a better 9th hitter than gonzalez as hes kind of like another lead off man. he can get on base better than A-gon and steal more bases. If its possible to get Izturis cheap, id take him over Gonzalez as long as he is healthy.

If someone had Izturis caliber defense with say... a bill mueller caliber bat, thats different. I'd make that move, but thats not something thats out there.

Gonzo has actually been really good at SS. He's solid in the field and his bat isn't that bad either. Pedroia will be a good SS in the future but for now Gonzo is getting the job done.
