Yankees look to end road trip on high note

The Yankees have played 10 of their first 13 games of the season on the road, going 3-7 in the process. On Wednesday, they will close out the second road trip of the young season, looking to head home on a high note.

Mike Mussina takes the mound for the Yankees, taking on former teammate Ted Lilly and the Blue Jays. Toronto won the first game of the two-game set, overcoming an early 4-0 lead to hand New York a 10-5 loss at Rogers Centre.

"They weren't intimidated by our lead. They went out and put some runs on the board," said Johnny Damon. "This is going to be a tough year, with a bunch of tough games against those guys. They're definitely very dangerous."

Mussina looks to bounce back after a hard-luck loss to the Twins last Friday. He allowed three runs in 6 2/3 innings in the loss, his first of the season.

In 35 career starts against the Blue Jays, Mussina is 18-11 with a 3.48 ERA, though he went 1-1 with a 10.24 ERA in two outings last season.

Pitching matchup

Mussina went 1-1 with a 10.24 ERA against the Jays last season.

TOR: LHP Ted Lilly (1-0, 3.86 ERA)

Lilly, a former Yankee, went 1-2 with a 10.34 ERA against New York in 2005.

Horrible call by second bas ump; Hill never had control of that ball, he dropped it, Damon was safe, and the Yankees should now have a 1 run lead.

Agreed. Looked like he had it from the original angle to me, but from the outfield camera angle, it's obvious that he didn't have it. Nearly impossible call to make for the umpire as his view was completely blocked, but it still should've gone the Yankees way.

I'm just listening...not watching...but I bet its a Yankees fan

That would explain ESPN's "technical difficulty"

nice effort from the moose yesterday

he had it all working and those j's are a pain in the ass as everyone in the east will find out soon enough

the yanks need their starters to get deep into ball games so their pen dont get taxed as it did last season

i believe last year at this time they were 6-18 or something to the effect so panicking wouldnt be prudent, last year they were bailed out in may by tino martinez having an awesome month, albeit his last good month then in the summer small chacon and wang really carried these guys home...this year??

they'll need similar help
