I find it funny how the yankees have f***ing trashed two former Cy Young winners and let 4 other guys shut them down...

Goes to show what a f***ing paper weight that award is half the time.

so much for small ball and not being one dimensional........

We've been pretty good moving runners over today, and idk if you missed it but Cairo did lay down a Sac Bunt.

congrats on the 2-4 start, something to be proud of

This is great. The Yankees will score 15 runs today and be shut out 2 of the next 3 games.

Why are you guys so bitter about us winning today?? Grow up.

Mariano Rivera, Baby!

If he's not the lefty that pitches for the Twins, then I'll have to disagree.

Santana was not the Cy last yr. The Cy is the most valuable pitcher award and Rivera was the only reason why the yankees even sniffed the playoffs, let alone got into them....

If David Ortiz doesn't win the AL MVP then you can't give the Cy Young to Mariano Rivera.

You could also use the most valuable pitcher debate, and hand it over to Colon. If the Angels don't have Colon, do they make the playoffs? Nope.

Look at Santana's stats last year:

231.2 IP 2.87 ERA 238 K's.

That's pure domination.

Exactly Crespo. Mariano had a great year, but not good enough to get over the relief pitcher bump just like Ortiz had a great year, but not good enough to get over the DH bump. Oh, and by the way, the Cy Young is for the best pitcher, not most valuable.

What led the way for the Yankees to battle back was felt greatly from the emergence of Chacon and Small having career years. They went 17-3 for you guys

who finished those games though. Chacon and Small were 6 inning pitchers, Mo had to close the door for them...

All I know is that the Yankees wouldve gone nowhere without Chacon & Small being brought in to stabilize the starting staff.

Rivera

7-4 43SV 78.1IP 50H 80K 18BB 1.38ERA. That is sheer domination, and almost every inning of that was when the game was on the line....

That's more important, when deciding on a Cy Young winner.

Not really. If every one of his innings is with the game on the line, in crunch time, and he puts up those numbers, then he should be considered with any starter....

OK, let's go with that argument. You're saying if the numbers are put up in crunch time, then they are more important. Going with that logic, Ortiz is the AL MVP last year.

But, that's not how the judge MVP's or Cy Young's. Santana pitched 232 innings of domiant baseball, won 16, and was probably the sole reason why the team was even close to the playoffs.

I thought Ortiz was the MVP last yr, btw....

Great game.

The offense was there and did what it's capable of (now, let's see if it continues to show up...) Moose was amazing; his off-speed stuff was great. Proctor and Farnsworth both had 1 - 2 - 3 innings. And Mariano finally got some work in!

Interesting Fact: With today's win, the Yankees have given up the least amount of runs of any AL East team.

Posted
Amount of runs allowed doesnt mean s*** when you're 2-4.

A team's record doesn't mean much 6 games into a 162 game season either.

It's just something I found interesting, considering all the bashing of Yankee pitching and hyping of Sox pitching.

absolutely. Also, consider that 5 of those runs were unearned and our staff has held up so far...

So you care more about runs allowed than your team's record?

no, cmon now. But it shows that our pitching has kept 2 playoff caliber teams to a minimal amount of runs over 6 games. If we keep that up, we will win a ton of games...

Relievers winning the Cy Young is a lot more common than DHs winning MVPs. Eckersly and Gagne come to mind. But when I try and try, I fail to think of an MVP/DH.

If he's not the lefty that pitches for the Twins, then I'll have to disagree.

You mean that lefty who everybody forgot about for the first few months of the season and who pitched meaningless games for the s***** Twins?
