This team just looks professional through and through. They are making the routine and the more than routine plays in the field. It is finally like watching a team that can properly call themselves "professional"; they are noticably better defensively than an "average" AAA or AA team, which wasn't true last year or the years before. I like watching them in the field so far this year.

 

Schilling looked dominant.

 

I know it's still early in the year, but with the exception of Wake---everyone has gone 7 innings (i think clement went 7). I am sure that the improved defense has brought a comfort level to the staff and they can go out and do their best without worrying about the defense behind them!

coco and lorretta > damon and renteria

 

i think the lineup is much better. Coco will hit as well as Damon and add around 15 more steals than damon. Loretta can handle the bat real well and is one of the best 2 hitters in baseball.

The defense is a def upgrade and will only get better as Youk learns the position. The offense is still up in the air--the potential is there, but we will see what happens!

They've made a couple of blunders on the basepaths. They've started out about average for their capabilities, but they've had 3 very good pitching performances in 5 games from two very good pitchers. Once the O gets in synch, and the pitching continues, then they'll be hot. They aren't there yet IMO.

As i mentioned before, Brinkman has been terrible tonight--very inconsistant and can't get out of the way of pop-up foul balls! UPN just showed a replay of shill's last pitch and out and right before he got to the dugout he looked to be giving brinkman the business. This wasn't the usual "good game" talk, he looked to be giving him an earfull!

you usually are hot when your pitching is hot. SchillingX2, Beckett, and Clement were solid. That is why you won 4 games....

I saw three ++pitches there. Excellent FB, the 0-1 slider to Millar is illegal in 13 states, and the splitter that K'd him was very good. Three +pitches needs to be starting ASAP.

I gotta love the way we're playing right now But our starters can't be like this all the time. I'm still really nervous about our middle relief, Timlin and Papelbon certainly seem to have the short stuff down.

On a side note, I hate MLB Extra Innings, they cut away when the game is only over for 3 seconds....
