I was going over team stats and all I can say is damn, the Detroit Tigers lineup is not one one to be reckoned with. In the first 4 games they have clubbed 14 HRs. Six of them have come tonight against the Rangers' starting pitcher RA Dickey in the first 4 innings.

Chris Shelton- 4

Carlos Guillen- 2

Marcus Thames- 2

Brandon Inge- 2

1- Curtis Granderson, Ivan Rodriguez, Magglio Ordonez, Criag Monroe

Dickey's a knuckleballer. You'd think Texas would know better than to use one with Ameriquest as their home field, especially since they regularly hammer Wake there.

Living here in Michigan, I follow the Tigers pretty closely. It is nice that they might be decent, it was pretty embarrassing a few years ago when they lost like a 118 games.

If their pitching holds up (mostly bullpen concerns and all the young pitchers they have), they will be a team to be reckoned with, since they obviously have a good offense.

Isn't that what everyone was saying last year? What was their record again?

Anyway, I think Pudge is going to have a bigtime rebound year.

Bonderman is a year older plus they added Rogers who can eat innings and they now have top prospect Justin Verlander in the rotation.

They had some major injury problems last year though. Magglio and Guillen were hurt most of the year (especially at the beginning) and once they got back Bonderman and Dmitri Young were hurt. Trammell was a terrible manager too, and the team had gave up by August/September.

Oh boy. Well, now that we're talking about jokes and no jokes....what the hell happened to the ChiSox? Losing 2/3 to Cleveland, and already lost the series against the 100-loss Royals by losing today and yesterday...

Wow. Anyway, yeah, it's still early, but it would be way too much to say that all this hitting is just a coincidence considering there's SO GODDAMN MUCH OF IT.

Chris Shelton has decided hitting HRs is too bourgeoisie, so he's 2-2 with 2 triples and 3 ribs thus far tonight.

Wow the Tigers have been impressive so far but just like every year I doubt it will last very long.

Obviously they aren't going to continue hitting like this, but they aren't going to go back to being the Royals either. I think they can contend for the Central this year, they have alot of good, young pitching and lots of offense it no one gets hurt. Injuries were their problem last year, and terrible managing.

It isn't just hitting. They have some good young pitchers too. Bonderman is going to be very good (he shined in his first game this year), and Verlander is going to be very good IMO. He's pitching tonight in Ameriquest against the same Texas lineup that Beckett went 7 IP, 5 K, 1 ER against, except he's gone 5 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 6 K. Bonderman sits at 93-95, Verlander is mid-to-high 90's with a +curve and a decent change. The also picked up Kenny Rogers, who is nuts, but a decent pitcher moving into one of the better pitcher's parks (Comerica). They'll be in the mix for the Central.

I believe this is Dickey's first year using the knuckler. I guess he just wanted to add something. Unfortunately for him, he may have to show off his knuckleball in Oklahoma.

I agree. There is no way theire level of consistancy, power-wise, holds up like this. Their just off to a hot start is all. Like ORS said, they have good players and a pretty good team, and might even contend, but I can say the same about the Royals.

I just watched Verlander's last inning of work in Texas, and his curve and change are off the charts silly. The Texas announcers said he sat at 95 all night and got up to 98. His change is in the mid-70's. And his curve, oh his curve, looks like it drops about 4 ft. On top of all that, his delivery looks pretty smooth and effortless. I'm not going to be looking forward to series with the Tigs where Bonderman and Verlander are scheduled to start.

I agree, Definately not something i'm looking forward to. I've watched Verlander pitch a few times as well and he's just plain nasty. And Bonderman has been coming into his own the last few years as well. Definately a team to look out for in the coming years. I think with the talent they have, along with that of the Guardians, White Sox, and IMO the Royals; in a few years this is going to be one of, if not the premier division in the league. Especially if the Twis are able to get back to their normal level of play.

Are you contridicting yourself in back to back posts? The first post you say they are just off to a hot start, and the next say they are a tough team. So which is it? Obviously they aren't going to keep hitting like this, but if their young pitchers keep this up they won't need to score 8 runs a game.

The Tigers are #1 in the FoxSports power rankings and have the best record in baseball. They've won 7 games in a row as well.
