November 18, 1997: Traded by the Montreal Expos to the Boston Red Sox for a player to be named later and Carl Pavano. The Boston Red Sox sent Tony Armas (December 18, 1997) to the Montreal Expos to complete the trade.

 

Varitek

July 31, 1997: Traded by the Seattle Mariners with Derek Lowe to the Boston Red Sox for Heathcliff Slocumb.

1986- Trade of Curt Schilling for reliever named Boddicker I believe, from the Baltimore Orioles

(of course moot now since his career has come full circle)

Nomar (away)

Jully 31 2004: Traded as part of a four-team deal with the Cubs, Expos and the Twins with Matt Murton going to the Cubs. The Red Sox got Dave Roberts, Orlando Cabrera, and Doug Mientkievicz.

 

I loved Nomar and was very bummed to see him go, but this was such a heads-up move, that even today it amazes me.

Meh, sorry to not exactly have a trade in mind, but to not be repetitive of what's already in this thread...

 

The Sox blowing their chance to sign Mark Teixeira in the Duquette era was pretty bad. We were talking about this last season with the Millar hating.

it could be if loretta puts up the all-star numbers he did in 2004. Have to wait and see with this one.

 

I think the Varitek deal is the best, with the Pedro deal a close 2nd.
