he making a good first impression on the team. Im hoping he can gete around 400 AB's this year. Give him some time in the OF, DH and maybe play a little 1st

But he did just hit a shot . Now 2-2.

true, he's still taking his pitches in his first ABs so far that ive seen him. yesterday's game included

He is now 2 for 3, HR, 2 RBIs, Walk, K. Not bad start at all

Stern show off your power there, RBI double. Its 3-2

Wily Mo shows like he can take a few pitches which I like. He has a quick bat and tons of power. If he can just see the strikezone better he could become a very good hitter.

Decent outing nothing spectacular. Had to battle a bit....but to me it looked like he was getting squeezed on some pitches which contributed to his high pitch count.

I figured that he would work 75-80 pitches tonight and 90-95 the next time out. I am not disagreeing. I am just not that familiar with the pitch progression throughout ST. His stuff is not outstanding tonight, but he has gotten better as the game moved along. All in all, an impressive outing. It's nice to see that he can be successful against a great lineup when he has sub par stuff.

One good thing so far about the yankee broadcast is that they showed video of Posada trying to catch a ball with his nose during BP. That's why he's not playing. It looked broken, but with that beak you never know. :dunno:

I heard that as I was coming in my bedroom " In a freak accident..." Damn, ther goes my fantasy league catcher. Only a broken nose, no problem... it'll probably be an inprovement.

Weasel Sturtze, hitting Lowell. Sturtze is really a bum.

I would imagine that come the start of the season both Riske and Seanez will have short leashes if they pitch the way they have in spring training.

Id go with that, but I think Theo will still be focused more on getting ABs & playing time for Wily. A full season of conditioning in Pawtucket wouldnt be the worst thing for Stern, where he would get more playing time than he would up north. Also an optioning of him to Pawtucket, they could be able to add another arm in the pen like DiNardo, DelCarmen, or even Hansen

Good game by Pena against NY. He went 2 for 4 with big hit of course being the 2-run shot (tying the game). He did strike out but I did notice that each AB, he was taking his pitches.

This spring training (most of which was spent in WBC)

3 for 8 (.375 avg) HR, 2 RBIs, 4 Ks---- 1 game was played for Cincy, 0 for 3 with 3 Ks

So overall a good start with his new team, lets hope it parlays

One thing i thought was interesting last night was the fact that we played so well with our "B" team. The line-up that we faced was the line-up that will be there on opening day (sub posada for stinnett----posada has a fractured nasal passage) and we held them down until Riske came in the game, and even then we only lost by 1. The line-up that we put out there was minus papi, crisp, nixon, loretta, youk, tek, from our potential opening day line-up.

Remmy also mentioned that tito said the sox would carry 11 pitchers (no need for 12 at the beggining with the amount of off days) and that they were thinking of keeping machado up with the club---they really like what they have seen so far. (and that dude can fly)

I really like what i have seen from crisp; however it will be tough to see Stern be sent down at some point----he's fun to watch play!

Forgive me if this was mentioned before...but does anyone have any idea why Manny is wearing number 95 in Spring Training? I thought the really high numbers were reserved for scrubs trying to make the system and minor leaguers? Guys like Lowell are wearing their regular numbers. Maybe Manny forgot his uniform at home and they had to hook him up with something? Oh Manny being Manny :)
