But how can you be so sure that if a player doesn't succeed in Boston or New York its because of pressure and not aging, changing leagues, or they just can't live up to a few career years before they got there.

I didn't say I was sure. I am just saying that I think that is why some players fail in Boston and NY.

Some people respond better to the fishbowl treatment than others. There are those who thrive in it, and there are those who shrivel up in it

And apparently the Red Sox people believe Coco Crisp will be one of those guys who's going to thrive.

Orlando Cabrera was one guy who came to Boston (from Montreal which was WAY WAY worse than any other place as far as fan support) and simply TOOK OFF.

Trust me, Montreal was BAD. I've been to a bunch of games up there living in VT I'm only a couple hours away and they sold 5,000 tickets on a GOOD day.

Yeah lets pretend that NY has never hyped up a FA signing, just to have it blow up in their faces

You think you can teach the other Yankee fans around here what it's like to think without a pair of Yankee balls in your mouth? :D

haha Interesting post considering your avatar

I think most knowledgable Yankee fans detest the craphole that is our FO structure with the noodleheads in Tampa who never played the game running the show for the last 4 years giving us such great signings like Jaret Wright amongst other failures. With Cashman FINALLY having somewhat of a voice in the decisions this year, we have had good smart signings. With the exception of Johnny Damon, all of them were decently priced also IMO. One sign that I knew Cashman was havign a voice in things, we werent the morons that signed Piazza. Hopefully it continues.

I don't really get that. What does me having a picture of one of my favorite football players of all time, holding the thing he worked for his entire life, have to do with sucking balls. If you look at any of the comments I've made about the NFL since coming here ... I'd say I'm pretty unbiased. Aside from the one post after the Super Bowl where rather than argue I just called the Waaaaaahmbulance.

Keyword there is knowledgable, and the problem is that 9/10 Yankee fans are not. They grow up thinking the Yankees are the greatest s*** ever, and never bother actually doing any research to find out if they are. Like we've all said before there are a few Yankee fans here that are fair and unbiased ... but then a few that completely talk out of their asses, and only post so that they can suck some Yankee dick.

lol spazz. I'm talking about the fact that the Bus has a ball in his mouth or at least looks like he's trying to get it in his mouth

I think that probably goes both ways.

Myself though I grew up a Yankees fan in the late 80s and early 90s when they lost 100 games every year it seemed like. I dont know about the 86 year drought but I can't crap on the Sox when my team was not even up to AAA level during that time. All you have ot know is that during one season, our leading HR guy was Mel Hall who blasted all of 15 HRs that year.
