the only way ty law returns is if he drops his demand for 10 million in bonus money up front. otherwise he can forget about a return engagement in foxboro

Definetly, if the pats aren't going to cough up the cash for the NFL's greatest kicker ever, they will certainly not overpay for Law.

Bills realeased Laywer and Sam Adams. Imagine Ty and Lawyer coming back to finish there careers in New England. Theyd obviously have to take a huge pay cut, but could be possible.

Stephen Davis, Brenston Buckner and He Hate Me got cut by Carolina.

If no labor agreement happens, they'll be a TON of cuts by the end of the week.

Both Shawn Alexander and Ahman Green resigned with their teams today so cross both names off the Pats List even though they were both longshots to come here.

Yesss I was hoping they would resign Artrell, he was one of those unknown pickups that had done a great job in Belichick's system. He helped the secondary be stronger in the 2nd half, and was good to have on special teams.

The Giants signed Sam Madison to a 4yr 7.4 million dollar contract today. The Pats couldn't have brought in Madison for at least the same if not a little more. That contract is basically peanuts. The deal, which has been in the works for several days, is worth $7.4 million. It includes a signing bonus of $2 million and base salaries of $900,000 (for 2006), $1.2 million (2007), $1.5 million (2008) and $1.8 million (2009). There is also an annual incentive of $250,000 for four or more interceptions.

for those who dont know:

the cut of willie now means that he will cost us a lil less than $1.5 mill against the cap (what was left of his signing bonus) even if he doesnt re-sign with us

if we had kept him past next week he was due a roster bonus of $3.5 mill, and a base salary of $3.5 mill, if we had kept him and not done anything he wouldve cost about $8.5 mill against the cap

we obviously were not gonna have that

hopefully now they will re-sign him

but whatever he is against the cap will be added to the $1.5 hes aready costing us because of the prorated signing bonus

Thats a great contract for the Giants Organization. Sam's lost a step but he's still a very good CB, certianly better than what we have now

Mel Kiper in his most recent chat on ESPN.com has projected both lendale white AND Deangelo Williams falling to the pats now that arizona has signed edge, and jamal lewis has gone back to baltimore along with mike anderson. I'd love if one of these guys fell, but given the choice I'd love to see us draft williams.

Classy guy, I wish he couldve retired as a Patriot. I wish him the best in whatever he does from here on out.

Boston Globe: Former Patriots linebacker Willie McGinest released the following statement through his agent on Friday:

"I would like to thank the New England fans, players, media and organization for all of their support during my time with the Patriots. The last 12 years of my life have been nothing short of spectacular, and there will always be a special place in my heart for the Patriots. That being said, I am extremely excited about starting a new chapter of my life in Cleveland. To all of you in the New England area who have laughed, cried and celebrated with me and the Patriots over the past 12 years, thank you. I will always cherish those memories, and I will miss you."

The statement was signed by McGinest, with his No. 55 next to the signature.

Scouts Inc.'s latest mock draft has Jonathan Joseph going 19th overall in the first round. If hes there in the 2nd round it would be a great pickup though. I hate doing mock drafts just because you have no idea whose going to be there but I'd put the following guys as all good picks in the first round for the Pats.

CB:

Tye Hill, Clemson

Jimmy Williams, Virginia Tech

Ashton Youboty, Ohio State

LB:

Ernie Sims, Florida State

Chad Greenway, Iowa

Demeco Ryans, Alabama

Bobby Carpenter, Ohio St

RB/WR:

Deangelo Williams, Memphis

Lendale White, USC

Chad Jackson, Florida

Santonio Holmes, Ohio St

And someone to think about if he falls to us:

Winston Justice, OT, USC

1/3-2/3 of these guys won't be available when we pick, but i think its possible for anyone of them to fall.

Isn't Michael Holley only on WEEI from 10 to 2?
